The only place that I know of who has good gear like that is Todd's. Check them out. But I'm new here so there are probably others.

Lee Keppler has good belts & whipholders. Check him out at www.adventure-supply.com

I'm leaning towards Lee Keppler's gunbelt, but I just wanted to know what other choices are out there. I e-mailed Noel Howard a long while back but never got a response. Is he still offering Indy gear? I'm also debating whether I should hold out for an AB gunbelt, but I have no idea how long that may be.

Who would you recommend for a non-attached functioning whip holder?

For a whipholder that works, PM molaram here on cow. He makes really good whip holders that really hold tightly...

Lee also does make a non attached whip holder. Although it is functional I do not like the velco on Todd's whip holder. Not a bash, just personal preference.

I'm leaning towards getting one of these, since they did make the holster for 'The Rundown', I thought it would be cool to have a whip made by the same guy that supplied that movie, and a holster made by the guys that supplied that movie... Despite the fact that I thought the movie was mediocre at best!

I'm definetly getting an AB, but I'm considering standbys for the meantime, and I'm deciding between Whip Studios and Keppler...

Man Castor, its like you took the words out of my mouth. I just bought one of these gunbelt from the whipstudio, as the one I have my whip keeps slipping easily out of my holder. Can't wait to get it. I am definately in for an AB gunbelt, but that probably won't be for a while since things got a little slowed down on that. This a great looking gunbelt and maybe I will give a good review once I get it and try it out. Maybe that will convince you Castor.

I do like a couple of the whip holders at Whip Artistry Studio, but I don't know if I like the velcro coil keeper.

And, Chris, in response to your PM, I like the idea of slipping my web belt through the whip holder to keep the gunbelt from sliding down on that side.

So, I guess I'll have to make a decision between practical and SA.

Mimicing Noel Howard does not make an SA belt and whipholder. I received a Keppler belt a couple of weeks ago and it is improved over what is on his website. He said the site hadn't been updated in a few years. This one has the correct tip, buckle, keeper, rivited on , lighter color whipholder with the little rivit on the pull tab, etc. He said to coil the whip so it fits in the holder tightly. It has a one-way snap so it won't pop open from inside no matter how much pressure it has on it. Good thinking! And he said there are LC and CS belt/whipholders in the works, along with a TOD and LC holster. He told me that the movie whip is wired together till Indy draws it. At least the wire doesn't show. Give him a call. He doesn't really care for e-mail, as he's on the road a lot. It's SA and it works.

This is something I never understood (not just for Keppler, but for most of the other globe-trotting vendors). IMO, wouldn't email be easier to check than a phone for that very reason? I mean, if an area won't have internet coverage, chances are they won't cover your phone as well...

NH told me that as well. NH's Raiders gun belt is very nice, and the whip holder works as poorly as the one in the film.... by Noel's own admission.

I just ordered one from Todd's to use with my regular belt or perhaps as a LC/CS holder. The Todd's holder looks like you can adjust to the size of the whip.

The Whip Artistry Studio website says to order the gunbelt using your normal waist size and that the actual belt length is your waist measurement plus four inches.

I have a 32 inch waist. My regular belts are 36 inches long (my waist measurement plus four inches for those of you who don't habla math). Shouldn't the gunbelt be at least a couple of inches longer than that?

You mean you buy waist sized 32 pants? In that case, your waist is bigger than 32 inches....

afrayedknot, order a 32 I am sure it will be fine. I have 32 waist as well. I have a 38 from Noel Howard and it is looser than I would like, maybe I lost weight from last year, I don't know. It is meant to sit at your hips, if you feel a 34 is better, but they probably would let you exchage it or a different size if it does not fit you right. I would go with a 32, remember your wearing Indy pants, not blue jeans and the pants are a much like suit pants and are designed differently. I guess belts are designed differently too, I took a clothing measure and mine measured out from close to the buckle to the end a 38, so belts are in different lengths I guess. I think a 32 should be fine though.

I found all this out when Noel Howard measured me for pants. My actual waist measurement was nothing like my "US pants waist size". I believe your observations are confirming the same thing.

My waist actually measures 32 inches around. I once bought a size 32 belt, thinking it was made for a 32 inch waist. When I went to put it on, the tip didn't even make it through the buckle. The size 36 belt fits with the prong in the last hole and the end of the belt extends about an inch past the first belt loop. The end of Indy's gunbelt seems to extend well past that.

Hmmm, this is both confusing and interesting. In Raiders the belt does not go past the whip holder and there is not this big huge leather belt excess that we see in this new film in some pictures I have seen. Indy would have had to use the first couple of holes on the gunbelt. Just an observation I have noticed in Raiders. But this is about a gunbelt that fits you, if you order a 36 it is going to way longer than a 36. Just like I said above I got a leather belt I am now wearing and it was a 32, it is 38 inches long. I guess I would go with a 34 which is really a 38 cause they add 4 inches. That is probably not helping either. British terms of size in pants is different from here that is for sure Anzac, I made sure my size for wested pants and a 32 was good for me there. I guess I would just try a 34 and see what happens, a 36 in a gunbelt is going to be huge. That is what I think, hope that helps a little bit. I think 34 now would be a good try, if its too big you can probably exchange it for a 32.

What is the difference between Whip Artistry Studios Indy whip holder and other whip holders? Is it just the velcro coil keeper? The whip holder itself looks like any other whip holder.

Well it does match the color of the belt. Other than that it is a typical whip holder, nothing truely magical or special. I just liked it because it came with the velcro coil keeper and just could use another gunbelt. I think Todd's and Lee's the holder is a lighter color than the belt. I am not sure.. Hope that answers your question.

Checking e-mail instead of answering the cell phone is not very easy when you are in a rental car on your way to a gun show a few hundred miles from your computer. Besides, e-mail lacks the personal touch. I like to chat gear with folks.

I did that too... kinda funny. I wear 32 pants, but ordered the 34-36 web belt and gunbelt from Todd's. (I wear a 34 belt, normally.) The gunbelt fits me on only the second notch, so there is oodles of excess leather after the buckle. I figure I'm more likely to gain weight as the years go by than lose it, so I think it's a good long term fit overall.

ask the vendor, and send them your measurements.

I just received my gunbelt from Lee Keppler. It's a great belt, but for it to fit loosely over my hips, the prong has to go in the second hole from the tip of the belt. Indy's belt seems to go through much more than this. Should I get a longer belt?
