Somewhere in COW I saw a fairly recent post about the Duluth Trading Company website. In case anyone hasn't seen it, try this for their whip.

Whoops!! Shoulda put this on the price string. They may not be SA, but at $69.75 it's more in my reach.

I'll copy it over there.

I'm pretty sure that this is the same whip I got about 15 years ago when living in Seattle. If it is, it's 8-plait, rubber swivel handle, and doesn't taper much to the fall. The fall was like an inch wide, too. I ended up braiding over the handle and trimming the fall. Worked pretty good after that.

I just recently saw this, (on Duluth's mailing list, as my whip bag was a discontinued condura nail gun bag that I absolutely love.)

I sent them a message about how they're constructed, as I've been wanting a decent swivel handle to mess around with, (and you NEVER know what you're getting from eBay!) The handle is weighted and the thong core is braided steel cable with nylon rope around that. I might pick one up for S's & G's just to play with.

DTC carry's good, rugged, stuff so I'm expecting something a bit better than those crappy, lightweight mexican Tourist Souvenirs you find on eBay. Aussie style fall, and would probably take a major beating.

Just thought I would share what I knew.

Happy Cracking!

Thanx. I figure that this ought to be a reasonable entry-level item that will look okay to the hoi polloi and will give me a chance to learn how to use one. Plus, it's priced in my real world.
