What size G&B?

Hello all!
This is my first post and after having consumed many of my most productive hours pouring over which jacket I think a G&B will be the one.
However, I wonder about the fit. I talked to Travis at G&B about the right size and maybe even if they would do like an "athletic fit" since I am a 40T but mut my waist is a 32. I was worried about it being too "box" like at the waist. A problem I commonly have with shirts, jackets, etc. Travis told me that he could consult with their design team about which size. He pitch the "athletic fit" at their staff meeting but they said they could not alter the pattern only tall and short. If it doesn't work maybe I'll just get a custom Wested or Magnoli. I like his wool lining. IT's cold here in northern UT, Maybe he could even do like a button in lining over a coton silesia lining. I think that a button in would be more period that a zip in.
What do you all think? This is really kind of a one shot deal for me.
