Wested Pants Question

Post by Thousand Truths »

I plan on buying the Wested Combo with the Jacket, Pants, and Shirt and I have a question about the pants. It says the pants come "unfinished" what does that mean? And also where can I get the pants finished when I get them? Thanks!

unfinished means that they are not specified to your inseam.....they come with extra length.....something that your friendly neighbourhood tailor can take care of.....not to be consfused with the friendly neighbourhood spiderman who wouldn't be able to help you......

So how does the tailor finish them? Do they just measure your legs and fix it to your length?

Yes they will do something while you are wearing the pants. They usually make you stand in front of some mirrors. You may want to bring the shoes you usually wear with your gear, Aldens or whatever you have. If not then just say you will be wearing a dress shoe, that is what i said for mine, and they turned out great. Had to wait two weeks, but still look good. I think the Wested is great pants. Good luck on your tailoring, hopefully the wait is not long.

Also, your tailor will ask if you want cuffs or not. If you want to be screen-accurate, say 'no'.

Personally, I prefer cuffs because I feel like they 'anchor' the pants a bit and give them a nice look at the bottom of the leg. But, Indy didn't wear them.

Ask your tailor to make the hems about 4 inches to be screen accurate. I heard that was to keep the hem from catching on the boots' speed lace hooks.

I ordered mine in a 38" waist even though I am a 34". I had the tailor take the waist and seat in to fit but got the baggy effect in the thighs.
