MY NEW TODDS STANDARD..........IM CONFUSED

Well, after my XL came, I shipped it back the same day and ordered the XXL. I was hoping it would be a better fit. Well, it arrived yesterday, and it still fits tighter than expected. I work out, and the jacket is too tight across my back and bicep area. I like the sleeve lenght. I thought for sure they would be too long. Im pretty confused here. I contacted Todd's and they said they would send me a refund if I was not happy with the fit. I am thinking about the goat Wested ROTLA in a size 50. I have the denim Wested in a size 48, and I could use a little room in the upper arms also, but the rest of the jacket fits good. The only negative I had with the denim was that the sleeves were too long. But that was an easy fix. I just turn them under about 2 inches. Does anyone know if the goat Wested that they offer in standard sizes are comparable to the standard denim? I am talking about the one that is around $246.00 US.

Here ae some pics of my Todds XXL

I read on here somewhere that the todd jackets have the smallest sleeves of any of the vendor cuts. that's my hesitation as far as getting the 80's cut in my wested.. I don't want the arms and shoulders to cut off circulation on me. I also remember reading about _ having a problem with the upper body fits on a lot of his jackets. I think the problem is that most gear collectors aren't jacked, and so guys with gym proportions have a harder time getting a good fit from what's offered.

Welcome to our ****! Unfortunately when the jackets are mass produced and each are set to a standard size it is hard to fit all the body proportions.

Like you I also work out and have the tightness across the back and when zipped up across the chest. My sleeves are fine but the length of the jacket to the waist is short.

hey man id say send the jacket back if you really want something just for wearing. I workout alot myself too and have the same problem with the jacket fit. Im just able to fit into the XXL and make it work and not look overly tight. I have a wested goat in a 48. I mentioned to peter i work out and included my arm measuremtns too incase. Fits me great, id say go for the wested.

I will probably start with a refund from Todd's Costumes. I am probablly going to just have to be without a jacket for a while untl I can come up with some money for a custom one. Or do nothing but cardio to shrink my body........It will probably be easier to just save he money I guess.

I just shipped back my Todd's. I am now thinking about selling my Wested denim size 48 if anyone is interested. I will be adding it to the for sale item site. Im trying to get money together to buy that one perfect jacket. Not sure which one that is yet.

Boy in the last month I count at least 5 "I Got My Todd Jacket" threads followed by "I Returned My Todd Jacket!" thread. I wonder if there is a trend happening here? Ya think?

The sizing is fairly accurate on Todd's Costumes size chart when I measured my jacket (sleeve length, shoulder to shoulder seam, back of the collar to lower edge, etc.) so I just think is is me thinking I am still wearing the same size as I used to 10 years ago. Although I still think the "general" sizing for men's formal jackets/sports coats is way off from the Todd's sizing chart.

When I wear it open it is an OK fit...enough to wear once or twice a year for costuming but not daily wear.

Just my humble opinion!

I have the exact opposite problem. Try being a 150 lb, 5'8" bike racer with broad shoulders, a 42 chest and 30 inch waist. The shoulders on standard jackets fit great but the waist is too baggy.

The shame of all this is, Todd's jackets are really nice. But they really are targeted to a particular frame range. At least for now.

For those with specific sizing needs, I recommend trying Magnoli. As specific as I was with Wested, the fit is still a little off. Too short and the neck is too small. When I first go it, the jacket fit better than any off-the-rack I had ever worn, so I was happy. Still am, really. But I've found better fits since.

Mags nailed it perfectly when he did mine. I don't say Wested won't get you what you need, but you have more than one option for a custom fit.

Sounds like you need a Todd's custom job for your more muscular frame. US Wings also might be a good option, they target bigger folks in general.

The denim raiders from wested is a slimmer cut, you'll get more room in the chest and upper arms on a standard Raiders. For you particular needs I suggest you send them a photo of youself in a T - shirt with neck, chest, bicep, waist etc. It will give them a better idea of what you really need!

Magnoli will work with you too.

Alternatively you can look up Nowaks, after all:
Each jacket is specifically designed for the bodybuilder's physique and is made out of hand selected, top quality woolens, cottons and leathers from around the world.
(Ok, just slightly tongue in cheek) :)

If the denim raiders is a slimmer cut, then the one I ordered should be perfect. I odered a standard in goatskin. Gemma said I should order the same size as the denim, and I should be fine. So I did. Now just waiting for it to get here.

Yes, I am having a LOT of jackets returned lately. The dimensions I started with were _'s stunt jacket measurements (it corresponds to my size MEDIUM, believe it or not). From there I sized up and down by standard steps, without changing the basic cut.

The kicker is, when I was working on this pattern the general cry was "PLEASE, NOT TOO LOOSE!!!". Even then, I allowed 6" of room in the chest instead of the 4" most guys were asking for.

I just ask, please get measured and go by the measurement chart on the website. The measurements are there. That should minimize the number of guys buying the wrong size.

These off the rack jackets do fit most, but the fact is they won't fit everyone. Some will need a looser cut jacket. US Wings jackets are very loosely cut and not too bad pricewise.

I really liked the jacket. Both the XL and XXL, but unfortunately, they did not work for me. For those that can fit into your standards, I would definetly recommend one. The jacket it great looking, and the price is right.

I'm right there with you man...I'm about 5'9-5'10, 160-170 lbs. with the broad shoulders and 40''-42'' chest. I work out 5 times a week (thank God for my employer's free gym :) ) but mix in martial arts and cardio.

I want to get a Wested but I'm tentative on the measurements and such. Debating whether to get the 40R or the 42R. I'm actually going to go to a nearby Wilson leather outlet store and try on their sizes and get some of the specs so I can get a better "feel" for what I want.
