Hi.jaust wanted to share this beautiful jacket I got here.you can see the length is so much better then the one I had before
It IS a duplicate of the smithsonian LC jacket.when I put it on I feel like putting on a original LC undistressed jacket.it's amazing!!!
it is a goat skin.VERY durable.built to last.
once again the details are AMAZING.I recommend a Magnoli jacket any day.no doubt
you have to give me some comments on this jacket guys:D and Magnoli....what do you think of this fit?

I can't see that, because I can only see two photos, and both are front-on!

I said it because I see it in person, but I thought it showed up a little in those front pictures too

Sorry, I thought another post had also implied that there was supposed to be a shot of the back...
It does look like a dead ringer for the LC jacket (albeit darker and brand-spanking new).

thanks.no it's acctualy a hair darker then the authentic brown color wested uses.
it's just the flash and the poor quality of the photos that makes it look darker.
I will take some outside sunny day pictures of it.

Hi Holt,
Did you nitice that the Smithsonian jacket flap do not appear to have piped stitching accross the top?
Your jacket looks fantastic. How's the lining?

I'm sure the leather is pretty indestructible, being goat, but how's the stitching? Think the lining will hold up too?

Looks great, Holt! Are you going to distress it?

Hey Holt, great jacket. You might want to change the wording on your post title. “Strike two” gives the impression that you are unsatisfied. Cheers

You need to work that distressing magic of yours on that thing Eric and give it some character
(<-------a.k.a. Chev Chelios. Had my SN altered)
Seriously though, congrats on a great lookin' jacket, my friend.

ohh? it's you my friend.cool.congrats on the new name
yeah?I am thinking of maby give it the LC distressing cause it's a goat and that is impossible to let it natural distress almost

Since it's goat and "almost" impossible to distress, would it be suitable to wear on a motorbike? Ignoring the absence of padding, would it prevent the wearer from being skinned alive if they were to take a quick trip across the asphalt?
I don't ride a motorcycle, but I think that should be the gold standard for an Indy jacket as far as durability is concerned!
Maybe someone can test this empirically! Just like IndyMcFly did with the whip. :P

Goatskin is a choice for motocycle jackets. Just saw one a guy was showing off yesterday.

I was thinking of getting a Magnoli Vintage Adventure Jacket—the LC jacket looks great but it's a bit out of my price range.
If a goat Vintage Adventure would hold up as a motorcycle jacket, then I'm sold. Of course, I'd wear it in the field mostly (though you never know when you're going to be jumping from your horse onto a tank! Especially if I ever did field work in a third world country...).

My Wested goat distressed okay without much actual action... don't have a camera or I'd show it. I think some goat does wear, the dye fades and lightens. It's minld wear but obvious enoughfor it not to look brand new.

I'll do it!
On a related note - I've always liked the way goat Westeds looked, this jacket also looks great, although the picture has a high contrast / low brightness sort of thing going on so it's difficult to see if I like it better than the Westeds or not.
But I do know that it DOES look good.
I say distress it!

I think that, properly distressed, the Magnoli would look more accurate than most Wested LC jackets!
But do you really want to do that? Why not wear the buggery out of it and have the pride of a naturally-distressed jacket decades down the road?
This is why youngsters getting a tough jacket at 17-20 years old have it good; they can wear the same jacket their whole adult life if they want, and it will just look better! I feel sorry for all you old people
(Just kidding)

You'd be doing well to get 10 years out of most of the jackets here if you wear them a lot. Stitching, lining and leather quality are the key factors - goat isn't going to do it on it's own. The jacket does look good, however.

Holt, What is the quality like compared to Wested. What's the leather like and the stitching and lining?

CM wrote:Holt, What is the quality like compared to Wested. What's the leather like and the stitching and lining?
the quality of this jacket is really good.
I mean,it's goat.it has the same feeling to the goat hide as the wested goat hide I had for a couple weeks ago.
the stiching is really well done.the corner of the pockets has reinforced stitching.
and the details on this jacket is amazing.with Magnoli you just have to say what kinda jacket you want.like TOD,LC and you will get the jacket with ALL the details you expect them to have.he knows he's stuff and for sure gives uss the details we want in a jacket.no question about it.
it's highly recommended.

Great to hear. Indy magnoli must be the best dressed chap in all new Zealand given what he has on offer! I could easily spend five grand on suits, jackets, shirts, pants and shoes (the explorers boots look phenomenal). Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go and rob the local petrol station.

The shallow action pleating too! It's probably even shallower than the Raiders jacket. Sorry for posting so much in this thread, I'm totally geeking out on this…

here are some outside pictures of this jacket.
I have soaked it just to let the stiff goatskin to easily break in.
it's still damp so it shows up a little dark in these pictures.
once again.Magnoli is one of the greatest to make the BEST detailed Indy jackets. If not THE greatest
and Magnoli the thing we talked about yesterday worked like a charm
what do you think?

Nice jacket Holt, looks to be ready for some adventuring. Do you plan to treat it nice, or give it a beatin' and see how the goat holds up??
I am waiting on a G&B Expedition, and have decided not to take any precautions with it. I will dress it properly with Pecards of course, but if I need to jump a bottomless pit because I "chose the wrong friends", or scale a cliff, it won't be coming off to keep it safe & pretty.
Cheers Brother

hey Ozraptor, now you can see the shoulder seam is under my shoulderbone just like on the jacket Ford had on.
you can see it by the two pictuers in the bottom of the new batch of outside pictures.
you can also see the collar and storm flap is very SA once breaked in

The only thing that could improve that jacket is a great fedora
Posted: Tue Apr 15, 2008 8:03 pm
by Ozraptor
Yup, I see what you mean now! I hadn't noticed that feature when I first received my Wested LC and thought there was something wrong! I'm sure you've noticed, but the LC has unusually long sleeves—either that, or he wears it hanging off a bit, but the cuffs come down to his knuckles—like in the above picture. That's why I wouldn't, if I were you, try to bunch up the sleeves too much.
Of course, the SA look is really helped by the fact that you do have broad shoulders. You could put a screen-used jacket on a lot of guys and it would look weird because they're not wide and bulky enough.
Now if you'll excuse me, I must hit the gym.

a couple days more.yay!!!
and Oz yes the sleeves are very long.I had been driving for about 1 hour while the jacket was still wet...thats why the bunched up sleeves..once it dryed they became more SA.and I love the look of the long LC/CS sleeves.
and have a good work out...lift some for me too will ya?

Looks superb in every way! In goatskin too; I bet it is every bit as tough as it looks! That ones a keeper Holt.
I'm still breaking in a brand new jacket, and now a new temptation arises. Sorry Magnoli, I'm gonna have to fight it this time!
Great jacket Holt!
