My unconventional Mk "VI" from WPG.com

I have one of the remarkably cheap (US$26?) Mark "VI" bags from What Price Glory. It's a cool bag, but Mark VII is clearly printed on the inside of the top flap! Also, the bag doesn't really resemble either the usual Mark VI or VII bags; there are just tiny little rivet-sort of drain holes along the bottom and instead of having snaps to hold the top closed there are posts embroidered into the bag, and button-holes on the flap. The corners of the flap are also not folded over—they are right-angle corners.
I'd post a pic but my digital camera's stuffed. Also I'm clueless when it comes to hosting images for display on a forum...
Not at all displeased with the bag, but WPG are misrepresenting their product by calling it an unconventionally-patterned Mark VI made in India (the last bit may be correct, but it says Mark VII quite clearly!).
What's the best place to get a really cheap original 'proper' Mark VII? I've heard some say they picked up theirs for $12!

Endicotts.
I doubt they'd have any as cheap as that, but they are always fair on price. They might have some well worn bags cheap. It's well worth getting one of their unissued bags.

I believe that was the MKVII model used in India.

The indian issue stuff was different in a lot of ways.
Webbing and other "kit" were slithgly different, kinda of like a regional thing.

Yes, that is indeed a Mk VII bag and not the Mk VI one.

Yes, I also have had one of these for years. It's kinda my 'every day' bag.

I just purchased an Endicott bag yesterday and it was $36 (US) with shipping. A great deal.

get a magnoli bag. it's more accurate, and six dollars less than the WPG bag.
(i am in no way affiliated with Magnoli Clothiers, i just buy his stuff sometimes.)

No, actually the WPG bag is
real! As in actual WWII. Not a reproduction.

True, But due to their age can be quite brittle. i've heard some people say with every day use they only last them like 6 months to a year! The magnoli bag is excellent and should last 60 years plus 6 months by the looks of mine

oh, i missed that part. i thought you'd picked up one of the replicas.
well, Magnoli's might not be GI, but it's top notch from what i've heard, and less expensive than what you're likely to pay for an original.
ETA: and, as Gary said, longer lasting.

Yeah, exactly, except mine is a lot more worn-looking. For instance the "VII" lettering has faded a lot. I think it adds character.
I have decided to keep the original strap on for now—cheaper, plus I think it looks cool.
Darth Indiana will be pleased to hear that I have a Magnoli bag on order now!

The Magnoli bag is great... very good quality and very durable. I love mine.
