An Indy style straw [kinda]

Here is a straw that I got from Stutzmans Headwear. They manufacture Amish style hats in all kinds of shapes and sizes.
This hat came with the thin black ribbon that is common on 'farmer' style straw hats. I have worn it a little and got to thinking that with the tall crown that a wider ribbon might look good.
So I took the ribbon off an old wool 'Indy' hat that I had, and placed it on this straw.
Looks kinda of good I think... Makes for a neat 'adventure' looking summer straw that will nowhere break the bank.
I got this hat in less than a week at the cost of less than $ 25 shipped.
Stutzmans has no web presence, but they are great to deal with over the phone. If anyone is intrested, drop me a PM and I will give you the model # and the phone # {I will try to check my PM often so dont give up on me!] . The sizes range from XS-XL. The XL fit my 7 1\2 head perfect.
The specs on my hat are--- 2 7\8 inch brim --- 5 1\4 front pinch -- 4 1\2 back crown. The side vent grommets give it a little more adventureous look!
It is in no way a SA Indy hat, but it has that {Indy} feel to it.
Also you can wet the straw down and shape the hat fairly well it will dry just like you have it. I sprayed mine with some Scouts Rain and Stain to give it a little weather protection.

Not chinese... Amish made from wheat straw in Indiana. Stutzmans is a Mennonite family store. And I happen to like the Amish.

Nice shape, it is on the level. Not the sort of straw to wear at the Peabody Hotel in August, but not many Mennonites there at the bar anyway.

Nice lid, PM.

I thought the Amish were not suppposed to use anything like that. Regardless, its a nice looking hat, congrats.

The Amish are more modern than most think. This store is Mennonite owned and caters to the Amish community, they have to get their headwear from someone. :)
I just posted as I thought it had a nice look and feel to it after an inexpensive ribbon change. I have a couple other Stutzman straws that are more of the farmer style, they are great for most summer chores around the place without the worry of getting one messed up.
I now can save my Peters Brothers Indy straw for going to town.

After looking at this hat several times I've fallen in love with it. I really like the looks but it's the chocolate ribbon that really stands out, I think the hat is truly very good looking.

Too bad they don't use computers I'd be on their website in a flash...

They would be Amish millionaires.

I have worn mine all week and can tell it is going to be a favorite this summer.
