Yes, Herbert Johnson was the original company that supplied hats to the Raiders production and their "Poet" was the model that was used in all the films up to CS, but for many years there was a mystery about what happened to the original Raiders block.

AB may have found the original block and the original felt and may be offering it as their new factory made fedora (see the last part of that thread for more info).

I wouldn't pay that much either. If I was going to go with a HJ then it would have to be Magnoli's. And at about $100 less, there is no question about it.

Wasn't it £165??? Darn it, just now that Euro was stronger than Pounds! 195?? Who's going to pay that kind of money? I guess they are getting ready for the new film too

I received an e-mail from Maryann at Swaine Adeney Brigg last week. The current price for the Poet is £190. Add in £48 shipping (to the States) too!

It sure is a pretty "noggin cover" though, despite the price. But there's no way we in the States can justify purchasing one these days, given the currency rates, and the ability to pick one up from Magnoli or Todd (or any other vendor I'm missing).

Add another $100 in shipping and you have youself a $500 purchase. That is outright rediculous. Granted, I don't have to buy it, so I don't know why I am writing this, but it just seems that if they cared about their Indiana Jones "afficionados" they would not be trying to rob them blind. I doubt anyone here would pay that, but someone has has not yet discovered COW might.

Now, I'm no expert... but can anybody look at this picture and tell me where the "hat" is?

Image

That looks like something that got left in the sun, melted, and then got sat on by a bear with 3 butt cheeks!

Their photos are horrible with that limp brim and teardrop crown. That hat looks like a sack of crud.

I agree. The hat doesn't look quite right. The brim looks like someone used a potato peeler and the front is shorter than the back, not to mention the crease.
