I just broke the lace on my Aldens! Are the laces fairly common, or do I have to order them through an Alden retailer?
(Yes, I know I could've done a search, but then I couldn't say, "Oh . . . Snap!)

In my area, flat laces are NOT that common in the 45 inch lengh, though round ones are.
I'd drop Aldens a line and get them there, if you're needing an exact replacement pair.

Surprised Alden didn't give you a backup pair of laces. They gave me a backup pair of laces. I am not sure if there is anyone that carries these kind of laces around here afrayedknot, maybe try Florscheim in the mall there. They have heard of Aldens. Maybe they could help.

A GOOD pair of showlaces should last you 20 years. They must be of inferior quality.

No no, the laces just can't handle the awesomeness of the 405 Boot!

I would say the neon orange. You get that glowing stone, or, power of the ark look.

i'm STILL waiting for my power laces. come on people, it's 2008, and we still have to invent flying cars, sleep ray, and pizzas that are ready in five seconds. Let's get a move on people.

afrayedknot, check your eyelets. if they are unfinnished and have metal burrs poking out, they will eat away at your laces until they do snap. that happened to mine so i just crushed the eyelets smooth with a pair of pliers.
if you're near an alden dealership, they'll usually give you replacement laces for free. that's where i get mine. it looked like alden sends the dealership a bag full because they know that they're eyelet pressing/finishing machine *****.

Alden sent me an extra pair with mine. You can just order a new pair from them I think for $4 or so.

I think I say this about once a week. Justin Boots makes a great small round lace for their roper boots that works great with Aldens. They're small enough to go into the hooks and last MUCH longer than Alden's laces. Check local western wear shops. That's where I get mine.
