Hey all, new to COW but not new to Indy collecting...was a long time member of the Indyfan forum and just never joined COW until now...

Came across this Webley back in 1998. The lower grip and trigger assembly is a MkV with the birds head grip and the top strap, 6 inch barrel and cylinder are a MkVI. The Mk V lower portion is stamped 1915. The cylinder has been rechambered for 45 Auto. I use 45 autorim shells and reload them so I don't need half or full moon clips, but the autorim brass is pretty hard to find. BTW, it still shoots really nicely. I think it's a dead ringer for the Last Crusade as you can plainly see in a few photos that the one they used has the birds head grip, and at any rate, it was quite the find in the condition it's in!

Well, enjoy!

That's a beautiful Webley. Gorgeous blue finish! How much did you pay for it?

Yeah, I know, it is nice...I got extremely lucky. I paid just $450 for it, so that made it even luckier!

My father-in-law got lucky recently though and picked up a Browning Hi-Power in near-mint condition for only $250 from a friend of his...maybe I can get him to part with it!

I don't suppose you have any info on who did the assembly and when?

I don't think I've ever seen a "custom" Webley.

No, I'm sorry, I don't, but I'm assuming the conversion to .45 ACP was done at the same time as the two different frame assemblies were paired.

Now that begs the question - Was the LC gun really a Green or this hybrid???

The LC gun was a WG and not this conversion. It's easy to spot the WG by the long flat area in front of the trigger gaurd and also the longer cylinder. The MK VI does not have these features. I've watched LC frame by frame and even at a distance you can see these details that differentiate it from the MK VI.

A hundred years ago these guns where basically hand made so you often will see variations.

Very nice specimen WebleyMKV!!!
