Can Someone near London examine this hat?! http://www.bates-hats.co.uk/soft_felt.html As pointed out in this thread, Poet looking HJ's of different colors say "Antelope" on tags inside. Is it a block shape? viewtopic.php?t=27735 I thought this deserved a new thread, because it looks like a possible new contender. I got so excited when I saw it, my vision blured for about 5 minutes! It's available in brown. It's described as "soft..finest fur felt" and the felt distorts in the brim in a very soft seductive way- maybe this is nearer to vintage HJ quality felt? -- That wide brimmed hat looks almost exactly like the big wide brim in the middle of that old HJ catalog page. Funny how this Hat is seperate from the others, and the hatmaking tools. Is this an in-shop handmade hat? There's that expanding block again  Isn't the bow positioned foreward like on a turned hat?

Of course, it's a Jeep!

Unfortunately, the same can't be said for the deer :(

I'll bet this is a soft felt. It's a velour finish. Never met a velour finish in a stiff hat.

Antelope in London? Someone give Wested a ring, because it sounds like a new jacket material! Authentic brown predistressed antelope! An exciting new leather alternative, or something to give novapelle a run for its money? :?

Image That's some serious crown. Wind trolley. I'm guessing this example is a small size, because the wind trolly button looks big in comparison. So the hat looks tall and the brim is maybe only 2 1/2 inches. But if it's made in-house, they might be able to go wider on special order?

I've no idea what constitutes the Antelope model. It may indeed refer to the block shape or crown height or the bash, but, I would wager the HJ “Antelope” model is so named because of their logo:

People have referred to the animal on the shield as a goat, a unicorn, etc. but, I’m fairly certain that is an antelope.

I emailed them last night, said I wanted an Indy hat, and asked if it was available with a 5 1/2 inch crown and 2 and 3/4 brim. They replied, this hat comes with a 5 inch crown and 2 3/4 brim. :( They also said - " We in fact supplied the hat for The Indiana Jones Films, albeit, not the latest."

Did they now? A lot of people claim that. Is anybody going to order this? I really can't justify buying one right now.

That hat looks pretty nice!!!!!!

And for the affirmation they do about being the original supplier of the hat for the film... who knows... it makes sense to me the hat to be bought in London.

It would be really great to see more photos of the hat...
