Are there beaver farms, or are they hunted?

Here in Canada, after many years of conservation of the beaver, the pendulum has swung the other way and now beavers need to be culled to protect the farm and woodlands.

I thank Canada every time I pull out a raw pure beaver hat body. Canadian beavers are the best, hands down and I am proud to say my bodies are made from this fur.
My motto is, "save a tree, trap a beaver." Which would put the tree huggers and PITA folks at odds with one another. Good.

Beaver Falls? Does it trip over its own tail?
Thanks for the replies, been pondering this question for a few days...

I always get really guilty when I think about how many animals are killed to make our gear. This whole gear-collecting thing seems kind of vain sometimes.
I know that hunting is sometimes necessary now to prevent overpopulation, but owning a beaver/rabbit fedora, among other things, is still gonna feel wrong to me.

If that is a problem for you, I believe you've chosen the wrong hobby to follow, my friend!

Well, let's make sure we keep this between the ditches, as this is not a location to discuss who thinks what about the morality of animal based products. There are as many with as strong opinions on the other end of the debate that will eventually weigh in.
This thread was just asking where the beaver fur comes from, and that was answered, so to keep things from wandering to far afield (as it seems this topic usually does), we'll shut it down at this point.
Thanks!
