First Post, First Jacket

I stumbled across this site a couple of weeks before the Indy IV trailer popped up and after reading a bunch of posts I decided to pick up a Wested LC 80s cut in novapelle. The sleeves and jacket length are both a couple of inches longer than the standard length but that's about it for custom specs. I wasn't going for screen accurancy, just a nice jacket to get me through the concrete jungle. The pockets on the 80s cut are a little smaller than I'm used to but I think the standard pockets may have been too big. Now I have to decide on what other gear to get. Probably a fedora and maybe a gas mask bag.

HardBop, I think that's the best looking LC jacket I have ever seen! Great fit too!

Thanks, guys. Everyone's opinions on the board helped me decide on the jacket I purchased.
Before it arrived I was a little nervous because a few people seemed to have problems with the fit but it's perfect on me.
I wasn't sure how dark Pecard would make the jacket but it didn't get too much darker. The jacket's a little lighter than my picture.

Hey, welcome to the board.
The jacket looks great, definitely seems to fit.
The pockets on the 80s cut are a little smaller than I'm used to but I think the standard pockets may have been too big.
That's kind of strange...especially since the LC jackets are supposed to have bigger pockets. [shrugs] The look fine though. :junior: -M

Welcome aboard sir!
On may 22 when you walk out that cinema be ready for some surprised stares!
Very fine jacket.
Pecard will at first darken it considerably, almost to a charcoal gray/Seal brown. But after 3 weeks or so it will lighten up most of the way again. The Pecards will seal the surface and help it bead water, as it is it will allow water through a bit.

That jacket looks amazing! I'm pretty new here too and have only really just got my first jacket. The novapelle always looks so #### good. It's no wonder people slip into spending so much in this hobby! I'm really glad I have nowhere enough cash to do so, 'cause I think it's all that saves me!
When I first got my Indy jacket I did find the pockets a bit smaller than I was used to too (mine is Raiders, so I think the pockets are even smaller), but despite their size it's suprising what you can fit in them (I carry so much junk around), and the Wested pockets are one of the best looking bits to me. I think the size and shape looks great, and they look particularly good on your jacket!

Welcome to the forum, and great new jacket! I really love that novapelle hide. I was a little unsure when I first heard of it. I was thinking, "what the heck is a novapelle?!?" but after seeing all of the pictures people have posted of it, I really like it.

Pretty unmistakable.

Thanks for the welcome. I definitely recommend a novapelle for anyone that doesn't want to risk ruining a jacket by going to far with sandpaper, etc.
I'm very curious to see how my jacket will look in a couple of years once I've fully broken it in.

That looks great. Good Pockets. The LC jacket pockets in the film do indeed appear smaller than the other film jackets, although the flap, like yours is bigger. Good work!

Oops... I stuffed up the reply above. As I was saying. Good pockets. LC jacket pockets look smaller - certainly shorter - with a bigger flap like yours.

man, you really make me want to have one of these...
Would you mind posting a detail picture of the pocket, taken with both flash and sunlight? I'm extreamly fozzy in terms of leather collour
I'm also wondering how this leather stands up to rainy weather?

Welcome on board HardBob
Great jacket, good choice, I hope you can stay with Fedora and gas mask bag, I have my doubts, once you started...

Very nice. It really looks like an LC jacket. The new guys have it so easy
. You wouldn’t have gotten that jacket so correct even 6 months ago. Nice ensemble too. A leather jacket and tie can look really good. I’ve always marveled at how well an A-2 looks with a tie. That’s why it’s a shame that they made HF look so lame with one in LC. They could have really done something there. Hardbop, are you a musician or a fan? Bop is one of my favorites too. Cheers

Rundquist - I think I did have it have it pretty easy. As soon as I found this site, I found the jacket I've wanted for years. Not a musician, just a fan of the hardbop subgenre of jazz. It's just the first username I could come up with. I was listening to an Art Blakey album when I was registering.
I'll try to post pictures of the pockets as soon as I can.
Cougar - This is a 42L. It's 80s cut so I think thats why the pockets are smaller than the normal LC pockets

Now that was a band, and a drummer!
