US Wings Vintage Cowhide or G&B Expedition lambskin?

I was going to get a Vintage Cowhide US Wings ($382 in Long) but I see a G&B for $468. For $80 more, I might as well get the G&B, no? What do people think?

You sound like me. I've pretty much decided to purchase a new jacket this month. I have a Wested lamb and now I'm trying to decide between the U.S Wings Ltd. Edition Jacket, the G&B goat, or possibly a Magnoli. There are so many good choices nowadays.

The way I look at it; I've seen a lot more praise for a G&B and it would be $477 with shipping. A US Wings long would be $402 with shipping. So for $75, is G&B that much better a jacket? Seems like it would be. But since this would be my 1st Indy jacket, either would not be bad, right?

I don't think either would be a bad choice. Is the G&B a better jacket? That is a matter of opinion.

Which jacket is going to make you happier? The US Wings is a great jacket and it leaves you with $75 more to spend on other Indy items if you wish. If, however, the G&B lamb is what you really want, then I'd opt for that one since you are going to have the jacket for a long time and then $75 doesn't really amount to that much.

I would have voted G&B Goat since it is very soft and durable IMO

Looks like I'm getting the Expedition. Is there more than one brown? One post I saw shows Dark Brown and then Seal? G&B's site shows dark brown or black. :?

They just sent me a sample of the "seal" brown. It looks awesome to say the least. I think Rundquist has one in this color? Anyway, the dark is really great too. My next G&B will be in the Seal so that I can now be complete.

I ordered the Expedition lambskin and asked Teresita at G&B if it came in more than one brown color. My work order says:
LD1L1ND-M44TN
Expedition Lamb Seal Dk Men 44T Nml

And this is the response I got:

"I think you mean the Expedition leather jacket. That jacket we only make it in the dark brown goatskin and lambskin."

So what color did mine come in? Since I ordered it through her, whoever I get patch me through to her and I just get voicemail with no responses. :? :?

Cow members get the US Wings Special edition cow hide for the same price as the vintage. I'd go with that.

One's way too dark and one way too light. The leather durability of each and manufacturing are both top notch.

Special Edition cow hide doesn't come in long/tall. I need that.

...wested, but if those are the choices, the GB, the wings , as they appear to say themselves, isnt accurate...

Doesn't Wested have quite a bit QC problems? I'm not going to buy a jacket from overseas to have problems. Besides I have not heard of any complaints about G&B.

I had the same concerns for the same reasons about buying overseas...

I went with Rundquist's suggestion....
I ordered a standard off the rack Expedition (40T), and it came in dark brown. Once I knew the jacket fit, I sent it back to have a non-returnable seal brown jacket made w/ 1/4" added to the sleeve.

G&B is pricey, but there is no question where that extra money is going. I highly recommend them to anyone in the market for a new jacket.

Sometimes they call dark seal “dark brown”. I think it’s because when the average person doesn’t know what the heck “dark seal” is. When you deal with Gibson & Barnes, you can always go to Dave Marshall at ext. 207 or Renne Hunter at ext. 210, if your sales person goes off the radar for whatever reason. Dave can always talk to you about technicalities.

In English, please. I would doubt that either company would say that their jacket is inaccurate, if that is what you are indeed implying. Cheers

I got the jacket on Thursday and wow, is it nice. 44T fits perfect! I'll post pics soon. I'm really glad I got it.
