Horse Hide...what's the verdict on distressing?

I've read a bunch of posts on the Wested Mr. Ed and distressing, either natural or manually, but I can't find any actual examples. Anyone with the horsey skin for a while...has it distressed any?
Trying to decide between Horse nd Novapelle for a LC/CS jacket. I want durability-toughness, but want the vintage look ultimately.

I've had my horsehide for over a year now, and it still looks like I just walked out of a store with it.
The novapelle, on the other hand, is predistressed, so even though I've had it for a couple of months only, it looks like I've had it for a year... while working on a ranch... tumbling over many dusty dunes... Just look at the publicity shot of the new Indy IV film, the one with Indy holding a gun and whip, and wearing a jacket, and you'll get a good idea of what the novapelle looks like out of the box.
I've treated both the jackets with the same abuses of daily wear, and to answer your question... I personally think my horsehide will outlast all my other leather jackets just because it seems that tough, while if it's the vintage look you're after, the novapelle (or any predistressed hide for that matter) is the way to go. Of course, you could always get a horse and wear the #### out of it for a few decades... and it'll probably start to break in a little by then...

Similar experiences. Have my HH a good year now, took it on several hikes and climibing tours and two excavations. It saw a snowstorm, some heavy rain, the salty sea, a sandstorm and some more ... and 'though it became a little bit lighter in colour, shows some minor traces of wear at the edges of the cuffs and looks a bit "polished" on some parts (especialyy the right shoulder, where I use to wear my rucksack), it's really hard to ever harm it.
There are some pictures of my jacket in my "Back from the Orient" thread in the Scrapbook section, but I'm not sure, if there are any detailed traces of use visible ...
