My AB came in several days ago. It fits me pretty well. It had more "turn" in it than I could wear, so I moved the pinch over a little bit and reshaped the front dents some. Better. That soft, floppy, crooked brim is going to take getting used to...

I decided, what the heck, I'd make this my work hat (what else am I going to do with it?) so I've worn it to work out in the lumberyard the last couple of days.

I'll try to get some better photos later.

That is one nice lid! Question, how did you reshape it? Cold water spray, dry or steam? I'm trying to get a feel for how everybody does this and it seams everyone likes a different method.

I think you did a great job it looks made for you, which of course it was!!!

I was just wondering though if you order a hat and ask for a certain bash from Raiders do they always put the turn in or only if you ask? I don't want the turn.

Steve only puts in the turn for the scene the turn was in, unless otherwise requested. Also, if you ask, he'll leave the turn out but you do need to specify. A hat that seen in the film with the turn but that the customer has asked that it be made without, is known as a "Michaelson"

Thanks Johnny. I'm ordering my AB with a Cairo crease, but no turn. I had an accident about 15 years ago and I still have a small piece of glass in my forehead on the right side, buried deep under the skin. Unfortunately it's pretty much right where a hat sits. If I had the turn and the hat didn't sit on my head in that nice oval shape it would be really uncomfortable. So no turn. Plus I like the ribbon over my ear...

Anytime.

To turn or not to turn is everyones personal preferance, but that's as good a reason as I've ever heard for leaving it out. Regardless, your AB will be the most comfortable hat you'll ever own. Steve does incredable work. My IM/HJ feels like Steve made it on my head as opposed to a block. Of course, one would be hard pressed to tell the diffrence between my head and a hat block.

All my hats have to be "turned" just a little bit anyway. The pinch has to be towards the bow just a bit to match my face, which apparently is off centered on my head... Hard to say exactly just how much, you just have to put the hat on and try it, and move the pinch around till it's where it needs to be.

I steamed it to shape it. It worked very nicely and quickly.

Let's see, it was paid for in early December, 2006, so almost 15 months.

The A2 is "vintage".....about 1989. A Cooper I bought out of an advertisement in the back of a gun magazine as a senior in high school. It was about $250, which was a LOT of money for me back then. It's a LOT of money for me now! Fits me better now than it did then...

A quick search of the board will bring up page after page on the subject, but, from a past topic there is this...
