I know ive see this info before, but im planning to do a bit of dying to my purewhip to give it some distressing look. Any particular leather dye thats best to use, besides basic tandy leather dyes? I know how to do it, i just wasnt sure if there is something better to use on a whip or not.
Also, would if be ok to just use some brown shoe polish, or is this a bad idea?

There is a lot of temptation to dye a whip that is delivered in natural condition. But there is joy seeing it naturally age into a mahogany patina finish over time. Be patient... Just my humble opinion.

I agree!! When I first got my Strain whip I was shocked at how white it looked........Before I knew it...It was aged perfectly and keeps getting better. You can't beat natural againg no matter what.

I believe I read that some folks used a very light application of shoe polish on their knots, and brown-Pecards on the main body to get a darker look.

yea i understand the waiting game with the whip, and it has darkened slightly, but im more into the costume aspect of indy and whipping, so id like to do something to it, not too much but just enough. I just wasnt sure if shoe polish had anything that might effect the actual whip badly.

If the older threads are anything to go by, shoe polish (if used lightly) should not badly affect your whip. It's your clothes (and hands) that they pose a threat to, it seems.
