YEEHAA!! Got a Todd's Jacket Today!!

I met my wife for lunch today at one of our favorite restaraunts. As I settled into my seat, she told me I was late. I told her she wouldn't believe how many people I had to run over just to make it when I did. Then she said "It's a good thing you made it. I was thinking I should sit with those guys over there, and see which one of them fits this the best." She reaches under the coat and pulls out a Raider's jacket from Todd's costumes. I've always believed I had found the perfect woman, and I had it confirmed for me again today!

Now, I'm not a really insistent SA type, but I have got to say that this jacket blows me away. It has every detail that jumps out at me from the movies, right down to the fit. This is a standard jacket, and I can not imagine that a custom could possibly fit better! I do not exagerrate when I say it is perfect in every way and is the Raider's jacket I have always wanted. Here's a pic, and I'd be happy to take some more if there are other views you want to see.

Thanky you Richelle, thank you Todd. I have to go take an aspirin right now, my face is sore from smiling for the last six hours, I'm high on the scent of new lambskin, and the Raider's March is stuck in my head.

yea what size is your todds? I just received notification that my XXL from todd will be here April 3. I had to sell my XL to a buddy cause it was a bit too small.

Too bad Todd doesn't make a Long

I would get one of his jackets in a heartbeat. You can't beat it for the price. Of course one of the women there said I could always get the custom (yea like I have the extra $350 laying around).

Jacket looks nice Weston and sounds like you have a great wife. That's 2 great finds you have there.

My first jacket is the TSJ (Todd's Standard Jacket) and it's the best jacket I've ever owned.

I am in total agreeance about the appearance and fit.

Mine is a L (I'm 6ft tall, 180 lbs) and the fit is perfect.

Congrats, Weston. Looks like it fits you perfectly. Add me those wanting height, weight and jacket size for such a good fit.

Lucky fellow!

Thanks for the additional info Weston. I am the same height as you, so the length looks really good in the arms and jacket body. However I am about 20 pounds heavier. Would you say that there is extra room when you have it zipped, or is it almost tight? Seeing your sleeve length, I'm leery of the two inch additional length in the XL sleeves.

Thanks,

Matt

The jacket looks good on you. :D

boilermaker, I had plenty of extra room zipped up, so I pulled the side straps in a couple inches on each side. I am a 31" waist.

Aeris makes good sense, a couple extra inches in the sleeves could never hurt. It's very easy to adjust and they do tend to ride up over time.

I just got my Todd's today too!! :D

Man i love this thing. I got myself a Large and I'm about 5'7-8' , I'm a rather stocky guy and the jacket just fits perfect. I need to get a hold of a digital camera and show this thing off! I totally suggest getting a size larger, even if you think it might be too large...do it anyway. The adjusters in the back help create room or remove it to "customize" the fit.

I've never owned any Lambskin coats, and i noticed this Todd's standard jacket is EXTREMELY light, and the leather doesn't feel that thick at all...I'm assuming that means it's going to be less durable...but it feel like it's too light and too thin...and the leather feels so soft it doesn't feel real :). But maybe that's just because i've never had a lambskin jacket.

What do you guys think? I got this second hand, and just making sure the description of the jacket sounds right...

Man that looks good, Weston. I don't imagine they would be all that strong, but they sure look like th real thing.

Aeris_Canon, No offense taken. I'm just trying to learn around here.

From the chart I figured I needed an XL jacket. I wear an "athletic cut" 43L in a suit. The length on Weston's jacket made me wonder though. But since he is a 31 waist and I am a 35, I agree, I don't see the L working on me. But I wasn't even thinking about the XXL.

I have a tough Lands End (in size "Tall L (42-44)") cowhide bomber that fits perfectly for winter, so I was considering this for warmer season wear, i.e. when I had less bulky clothes on (like a safari shirt!). Todd's lists the XL as being for 42-44. I'm still thinking that might be the way to go, but I'm open to other's experiences.

Thanks all!

Matt

PS Nameless_One a lambskin jacket will definitely become distressed over time, its just what they do. The question is how new you want it to look. I have an old lambskin jacket that is nicely broken in - a little bit more lived-in than the Last Crusade look. I think it looks good, but my ex-wife absolutely hated it and didn't want to see me wear it any more. Well she's gone and I still have he jacket.

Can anybody tell me if the sleeves can be taken out at all? I'm 6'2" and I think I'd wear a medium, but the sleeves would probably be way too short.

Holt,

It isn't an Indy jacket, but it has lots of character. I'll see about getting some pictures tomorrow - if I don't sign-off now, I'll be late for work.

Hey there,

The jacket cuff has at least 1" of extra leather on the inside of the cuff. It can be "rolled out" and then ironed flat (to eliminate the crease). Use a paper shopping bag between the leather and iron though. The leather is glued in place with rubber cement but will come undone with a little force. My jacket was 1" too short in the sleeves and this is what I did.

Thanks. If I can bring myself to order one of these, knowing I'd never wear my Wested again, then I'll do that.

Nameless, your concerns about the durability of the lambskin are common are a common reaction when you first take it out of the package. When I got my first one it was so light and soft I was worried about wearing it outside! 10 years later it is still alive and well. The Todd's jacket is very light, but I have no doubt it's going to hold up well. Enjoy your lambskin jacket, it's toughness will surprise you. A leather jacket doesn't have to be made out of Rhino hide and lined with kevlar to be adventure worthy.

Looks great, and the same exact size as mine, makes me think USW's have gotten bigger lately.

i was a bit heavier when i took this, close to 220. Im at 200 now after changing my diet and workout up again. Im almost 6 2" chest at 46 inches normally. I work out alot, so i have a decent build, and the XL was too small. Didnt notice is always when wearing it, but it was too short in the wrists and overall jacket size. See pictures below. Cant wait till my XXL gets here in a few days because i do love todds jacket alot.

my wested goat size 48 chest...think its slightly short in body lenght, but it feels comfy. 3 years old.

Indakin, post us some pics when you get it! If the sleeves are too short, it's really easy to let them out. You can do it youself with no sewing involved.

Indiana Holt,

Here is my old lambskin jacket. I probably used it as my main fall through spring jacket for about 7 or 8 years. Its probably about 13 years old now. Looking closer at it for the pictures it is starting to get frayed toward the cuffs.

BTW I was paying more attention to my daughter running the camera than getting my hat straight so I discovered for myself what the turn does to the brim!
