Well I think I'm catching the gearbug. In the beginning I wanted 1 hat. Now I'm thinking about my fourth
Got a call from Ken last night and I'm REALLY interested in the Camptown even though I have a Keppler on the way. I'd like to know, if any of you happen have/had both, how they compare to each other.
Cheers

As of now I only have a Camptown & I love my lid. But, like Michaelson is so fond of saying, I think this may be a case of apples & oranges. Although, I can't be too sure of that since I've heard that Kepplers are a blend as well.
Michaelson would be the man to chime in here since he has both. You do, don't you Michaelson?
Cheers!

Swcrazyfan: Sorry, not on the payroll, I just want to see a small business take off. I'm sure I'll sing the praises of AB once I get one as well, but I am very happy with what I got & wish to share that. I feel Ken is offering a good deal on a good hat & would like to see that succeed. Too many small businesses these days tend to crash before they ever get off the ground & a little support from a community such as ours is exactly what they need. Steve & Marc received (and still do) plenty of the word of mouth advertising that helped them get on top of the game and may have helped get a pretty sweet contract to boot. Now, they admittedly don't make a huge margin on their hats, that they do this because they are fans and they dig on what they're doing. I think Ken is doing the same thing as does Lee with his hats. They all offer a good hat in a market where a good hat is custom, and do so at a fair price.
So, no I'm not on the payroll, just like what I got.
Cheers!

I'm around, old friend, but you're doing such a good job, no need for my help!DanielJones wrote:As of now I only have a Camptown & I love my lid. Oh, and yes, I do have both, or at least I USED to have Keppler too. It, uh, 'disappeared' a few years back out of the back seat of a car.....
Regards! Michaelson

Ha, I agree. DanielJones convinced me to get a Camptown with his awesome pictures and recommendations. If I'm as happy with this hat as I think I'll be, then I owe ya one DanielJones, and so does Ken.swcrazyfan wrote:DJ, its kind of funny that you always seem to be one of the first people to post if a topic says anything about camptown. You also realize that your pics made of need to get one. Is Ken paying you? Because if he isn't, he should.

Well, I can't wait to see what you get & what you decide to do with it. Are you going to have Ken shape it or do it yourself? In any case please post pics, we would love to see it. I think the Camptown Fieldmaster/Metropolitan thread will be a good central showcase for all of the new hats from Ken before & after the movie premier, sort of keep then centralized.Argonaut wrote:Ha, I agree. Nah, you don't owe me a thing. I was just stating my own personal opinion, & showing off what I was able to do with mine with my limited skills.
Cheers!

Thanks. I'm probably gonna let Ken dimensionally cut the brim, and then send it open crowned. I'm sure Ken could do a great bash job, but I'd like to give it a try. Plus, if I want to turn the hat, I'm told it's better that I have it on my head at the time so that I know how far to turn it.DanielJones wrote:Well, I can't wait to see what you get & what you decide to do with it. I'm a bit worried I wouldn't do as good a bash job, but it seems like I'd have to do it myself if I wanted the turn.
So hopefully I'll be getting a call from Ken sometime soon.
