My newly arrived DM Adventurer...

Well, since I had no hat and had no patience to wait for the new Fed, I got the Adventurer from David Morgan instead.
I've had experience bashing my old DP Wool, but this is my first bash with rabbit felt. After 30 minutes of cutting the brim bashing the crown and then sealing the shape with water spray, this is what came out. I have to say that I like it. It fits perfectly on my head. Tomorrow I will change the ribbon to black at my hat shop.
Keep in mind, I was going after the LC look and wasn't too crazy about SA. It just needed to look like a LC fedora which so far I am pleased with.
Also the hat is darker than it shows.

I've never actually seen too many of these. I must say you did a great job on the bash. Well done! :)

Well done! That is a great looking hat. It must have been nerve wracking to cut that brim though...you must have a steady hand.
Why black ribbon though?

Thanks overall I'm pretty happy with the hat. My keppler will be my raiders hat and the one Im looking forward to getting, next to the CS AB of course.
Indeed the brim was a pain in the arse and I still think I could've done a better job on it. I may not be concerned with SA but I still want the measurements to be even.
The ribbon is actually the same color as the hat and that isn't the case with indy's hat. It also makes the hat appear taller, which I don't want. Unfortunatly my hat center doesn't have a 39mm black ribbon so I may have to order it and do it myself

I have the Adventurer, too. I must say that I love my hat, but yours looks like it came out better. I like the large brim, and think it works for me; but your bash is fabulous.

Would you do me a favor and let me know how tall your hat measures from brim to top in the front? I'm thinking of maybe changing mine, but don't want it too tall...

I've been working on the hat, fixing the brim and softening the felt. I think this will be my rugged wear since it would be the least expensive of my hats and it's an akubra.
I took measurements of the crown and If I'm correct, it's 4" in the back and 5" on the front. The brim is 2.75 front n back and 2.5 sides.
I cut the brim the first thing, because it was the hardest thing to do properly. I did a dry bash first, slowly getting the shape the way I wanted it, then I used cold water and sprayed the crown, this kept the bash in place after it dried. I only used steam on the brim, very lightly and in sections. I found getting the brim right to be the hardest part. On that I could've done better but I like the hat. It'll keep me happy till the keppler comes in. Once that and the G&B Jacket arrive I'll be posting full pix

Cheers

Good lookin' fedora Indianasolo. I'm pretty new here and haven't read much about these or seen many pics. If you get a chance, post some pics of it on.

I have an Adventurer, and I think it's a pretty fine hat.

What has impressed me was its toughness. I've worn it in the rain, and then put it on a stand to dry naturally, and it has held its shape well, with no taper so far. It seems to be a very tough hat, made for real-world use. David Morgan describes the Adventurer as such, and so far it has lived up to this description.

My experience with the Adventurer, my first Indy fedora, has led me to purchase a new Fed Deluxe based on the way Akubra builds their hats.

My only complaint with the Adventurer is I wish the band was a bit darker, and the body just a shade lighter.
