Holy Smokes

Post by Rundquist »

I just got my Gibson & Barnes light seal brown goatskin jacket replacement and I have to say that this is one of the nicest Indiana Jones jackets I have ever had. This particular goatskin is next to lamb in softness. I’ll post pics soon. I just got the thing 5 minutes ago.

I thought you already had a G&B??? Or was that the Lambskin?

Post pics whenever you can. I'm currently waiting on my Dark Seal Goatskin and rather anxious.

I thought G&B only did dark brown & black.... maybe those are just off the rack jackets. Was the Light brown a special order???

In the old days a light seal was not a "special" order. These days I have no idea. I'm usually able to order whatever I want because I have a long history of never returning a jacket. I would call them and find out if I were you. Cheers

EDIT - I just talked to someone over there and what I've been told is that they'll sub out "non standard" leather, but there is an extra charge and the jacket becomes non returnable. Any change to the "regular" jacket makes it non returnable

I just happened to have my old artificially distressed dark seal prototype with me so there it is for comparison.

Here’s an undistressed patch.

One of the Expedition’s greatest features (that never gets talked about) is how great the lining is. This stuff is smooth and will never wear out on you. I’d say it’s there for life. There are also built in pleats and gussets in the lining to move with the outside of the jacket (so the outside features work).

This pic of the collar detail is obviously too red (for whatever reason).

I talked to them on Friday and my salesmen confirmed that they will make an expo in seal/brown and is sending me a sample as we speak. I am going to order another expo in the 44-T with the XXL for sleeve only. Current 44-T is still about 1" + too short for me.

It is a pleasure ordering from these guys. They under promise and over deliver. Once you try G&B, there is no going back IMO. It is hand down better than the Wested and Wings that I have owned. I do admit that I have not had every jacket or 10-20 westeds like some, but it is not rocket science to see that the G&B is the best built.

I still mourn the fact I 'outgrew' my G&B a couple years ago. Gravity is a terrible thing. :(

I'll replace it someday.

Thanks a million Rundquist!!! I was sitting here pulling my hair out over dark or light. Your comparison was perfectly timed. Congrats the Lt brown it's beauty, but I have to admit I'm partial dark. Maybe I take your route, and get both :D
Thanks again!!

My God that's nice!! I must have one. Even in the photos it seems more robust and confidant than all the others.

Cheers

Question - I saw that COW forum members get a discount on some companies' jackets, does that include Gibson-barnes as well?
