So heres the deal i have a white cotton safari shirt from Forever 21 in NY (yes it's a man's shirt) As far as I'm concerned it's pretty perfect - BUT - it's bright white!
So it's %100 cotton - and I want it to look like the Raiders shirt - so what color dye do you guys recommend?
Thanks
Moony

Try following this link, this is what I used when I redyed my Noel Howard Raiders shirt. Only difference is yours is ready to go into the dye mix. I recomend that your Forever21 shirt be washed first, that is if it hasn't allready.
Just get the the corect Ritt, Pearl and Tan.

Your welcome.
Anybody every use this method successfully?
Well there's me and I'm sure there'll be many more who'll chime in.
Good luck.
And don't forget if it doesn't come out to your liking you can always get a box or two of Ritt dye remover and try again. I've had to do this and you do it till it looks right to your minds eye.

Just make sure you get the same form of dye for both colors. I got liquid for the tan and powder for the pearl grey and the tan WAAY outdid the grey. That was a rookie mistake on my part. Good luck though and post pics when you're done!

If you hang back a few, I was just contacted by a guy over in Europe who set me an experiment he did with a simialr type shirt.
He used Dylon Reindeer Beige n. 22 dye.
Apparently it is availabel in the states. The pics he sent me are great.
It gets the shirt more of the original darker tan prior to wear and tear
(if you're interested in that.)
He just joined and will post his stuff over the next few days.
This is a link to his photos.

(And yes, always use the powder, you'll get much more accurate results.)

I'm in no hurry yet - and that sounds pretty promising Dalexs, The only thing is I don't want to go searching all over the world for this special dye - unless its easy to get - then I'm Okay
Thanks for the Input! Keep me updated!

I used the IndyGear Rit method with great success. My shirts came out a beautiful color. Are you from the States? I MA, I've found the necessary colors in supermarkets and also in Michael's craft stores.

Keep in mind that the method I described was for the Noel Howard shirts, which were very light weight cotton. It's possible that your shirt is a bit thicker and may require a longer dip time.
Just keep in mind that no matter how dark it looks when you first dye it, it is going to lighten up. So don't be afraid to give it another soak.
Also, you may want to add some salt to the dye bath. It helps set the color better.
I learned that later on and haven't gotten around to updating the FAQ.
