Whats the difference between an 80's cut wested and non 80's

Post by Red Dust »

Whats the difference between an 80's cut wested and non 80's wested.. An educated guess tells me 80's is nearer to what ford wore.. but why change it?? it's not as if the jacket should need updating its a 30's/40's fictional jacket.

Any way the reason i'm asking is because i'm thinking of ordering my second wested.. my 1st i ordered to my exact body size so were Indy has the seam of his jacket over hang his shoulders a couple of inches my does'nt thus creating a non-SA jacket..

I read a thread that people wanted to put a pertition into peter with an accumilated amount of knowledge for the nearest possible SA jacket (alot of people will say there is no such thing) but was wondering if i should hold out to see if this comes into play before ordering a new one.

reply's appreciated

80's fit is what Ford wore in Raiders - it hugs the body more and is not really good for a stouter body type. The regular Wested is more generously cut, and easier to move around in.

As for that "dream Wested"... I wouldn't hold your breath. It's been tried, and Peter even offered up what was supposed to be the ultimate SA jacket. Guess what... tons of people say it ain't. Face it. A truly SA jacket is nothing but a myth, no matter how hard anyone tries to nail it.

I know capturing exact measurements will be a unicorn but ive noticed that the gills under the arm of the wested raiders stick out alot on my jacket which i love as a feature, but when you see indy resting on marions bar pouring whiskey you can see that the gills have been sewn up tighter making them less of a feature on the jacket, or is this something that can be argued into subbmission aswell?? i mean i'm just using my eyes and thats what is there to be seen. (this is'nt in an angry context btw) :?

So the 80's fit is alittle tighter then??? any other things about it that stands it apart?

As far as I know, that spec is just referring to the body size. It's made to fit like a jacket made in the 80s, before the population of the world blew up.
