New Guy, New Jacket

Post by Captain Threepwood »

Greetings All,

Figured I'd continue the theme I started with my first post in the Fedora section.

On the advice of a friend who's been putting together Indy Gear for her fiance, I ordered the Jacket, Shirt and Pants combo from Wested at the end of last month, and the gear arrived today. I went with the Raiders pre-distressed hide jacket, as while it's not "canon" so to speak, it'd break my heart to try and distress one of these fine leather jackets myself :P

Hearing from my friend that the Wested she'd ordered ran a little small, I went one size up to a 40 and it seems to fit rather well, though I'm posting links to some photos just so I can get some expert opinions here on the look of the jacket. Please excuse the quality of the photos, only mirror I had access to was the bathroom:

Wow, I'm definitely losing my hair in that second shot. Guess it's good I already got the fedora :P

The jacket feels tough and heavy, but I prefer my clothes that way anyway. If the verdict here is good, I'll definitely be wearing this jacket often during winter here.

Be seeing you,

Nice looking jacket. I'm a fan of Wested's pre-distressed hide.

Now, just wear it, and wear it regularly so it will settle down on your body frame. THAT'S when you'll see how well the jacket fits and works. Looks good now, but it will only get better with regular use.

HIGH regards! Michaelson

Hi. Saw the new pre-distressed jacket, and having owned one in the wrong size (I always suggest one size up with the thicker hides), I now have a pre-distressed LC jacket that fits, and zips up like a charm. However, I took the advice of a annonymous owner, and treted it with pecards dressing, and I must say I love the darkened look (retaining the distressed look), and the softness of a lambskin. For me, the pre-distressed jacket scratched too easily, even from a seatbelt driving. Pecards gave it that "marbled" look and kept it soft and dark brown, and NOW treated against moisture and humidity. It also took on the look of the new Crystal Skull movie jacket.
This is just from my experience and taste. Pre-distressed good, treated pre-distressed , better!
