So I'm planning on taking a trip to Europe late this summer and figure it would be the perfect opportunity to order a new Wested. That raises the question though, is it better to order it online a month beforehand and walk in to pick it up, or should I get sized and place my order in the store and have them mail it to me? Alternatively, what do they have on hand in the shop? I've got a 42R otr and actually need a 40 with long sleeves and 80s cut. Might they have something like that that isn't offered online and doesn't have the month long wait tacked on?

I am sure Peter has plenty of Jackets in the Shop, he sure did when I was tere a few months ago, we found somehting to suit my strange proportions. I have a broad shoulders and long ish arms with a long back and smallish waist (well it used to be )

But to get to the shop is a good 20 minutes out of London, so I suggest you hire a car for the day and do it on a weekend, a Taxi would be a might expensive and hiring a car for a weekend will give you alot more freedom to explore, and on the weekend you do not have to worry about the congestion charges in central London. Not that you want to go driving through that crowded, grid locked maze...

That's the danger of the shop, you can often find something that fits. Sneaky that.

I think it's best to go and see, you might be lucky and pick one up there and then. At the very least you can find one that fits well and get them to make one to the specs you want to that size.

Try to call ahead to see if Peter is there, he is more likely to be in in the shop in the afternoons. It would be a shame to go and not see him.

Thanks for the info. Is there a train or anything that can take me up there? It seems appalling to most people, but the only things I want to see in England are Wested and stonehenge, I'm mostly making the trip for Ireland and Scotland. I'm probably only going to be in England for a day before I fly back home.

You get a train, then you'll have to catch a taxi.
You can see in SJ's post I asked a few questions about the stations to go to.

How far is the shop from the nearest train station? If it's under 10 miles I can just walk it.

No train... and u can only look at stonehenge from a distance these days...

Like i said taxi... or hire a car for the weekend you can see the shop and do the needful travel wise to other sites.

If you are in London take the train to Swanley and then a cab to the shop. Most of the cab drivers already know where Wested is anyways. I think it cost about 6 pounds for me to go from the train station to the shop. And if you are lucky, Peter will give you a lift back to the station.

For good directions, email Wested and ask them. That's what I did.

Risu I stand corrected yes there is a train, near by I thought the mainline went further south or north... way north.


I would say London Bridge(Ithink will check) would be your best best. there shoudl be a cab, but by the looks of it about a 20-30 minute walk...

A lift would be much appreciated, although a half hour's walk doesn't sound too bad.

I am not a fan of English rail services.. but you should have no problems as Scandinavia Jones's link shows.
Just hope they are not doing line work, having signal failure, have the wrong type of leaves on the track, the wrong type rain falling and what was the other one... Oh yes not enough drivers... all excuses used for trains being late or not arriving at all or being just cnacelled.

London Victoria is a large station, and not too far away is the main London bus terminal, Victoria as has the Gatwick express.

Driving depending on where you start form is quite easy, just have to watch the traffic and the speed cameras.

Blackfriars is closer to the Tower to you could make a good day of it that way. But with the tube everything is possible.

If you are walking always take an umbrella in lovely sunny UK..

Cheap day return ticket is the best option for your ticket.
