CONGRATS STEVE...NOW you can have a Cigar!
It just goes to show that if you have enough passion for something It might take you where you never thought you could go. Steve may become a new celebrity, outside of COW.
Great job with the Hats, and you ended up contributing to the archaeological community afterall And you may still have a chance to get that doctorate.

Once again, congrats. What a feel good story.

Anyway, great article! I hope this kind of media attention will put the false claims by other manufacturers to rest.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I never saw articles about the Gear suppliers from the other movies. Was this kept more under wraps or did I just miss this?

Keep in mind, I've known Steve for well over 10 years, so I've picked them up over a period of time as he was developing his craft.
So, before folks think I just gathered a bunch of AB's in the last little bit, the answer is 'no, I haven't'.
(note to self: Add request for AB collection photo to photo request list.... 8-[ )
Anyway, it was a great article to be included in, and I'm proud have been allowed a small part.
Regards! Michaelson

That was AWESOME!
And what a great pic too! Might have to be framed and go next to my Fedora's and Harrison's autographed pic...
(Once I get MY AB of course... Which should be any time now).
And I had to go back and re-read it again when I realized that was Michaelson that they were talking about.
What a great article.
How many times can we say congratulations!
Congrats!!

I might be wrong, but I'm assuming the reason why the gear is being so prominently featured in the media this time around is because... well, Indiana Jones has now established himself completely as a cultural icon, and a legend!Bullitt wrote:Correct me if I'm wrong, but I never saw articles about the Gear suppliers from the other movies. Before, when say ToD or LC was released, Indy was famous, but in some ways he was a rookie, and could still be seen as a flavor of the month (AT THE TIME!!!). It's like The Matrix, and the Matrix's sequels... Neo's outfit was no doubt instantly recognizable, but no one really cares where he got it made... Now, if they make ANOTHER sequel to the Matrix in 25 years, the media will no doubt have a field day over which designer tailors his then (presumably) iconic trenchcoat!

Well, no mention of Marc. At least when the local news did the story here, I got him in. I guess they just wanted to print the info that I gave them about ME. Understandable I guess, but I hate it when they don't print everything. And yeah, a couple of little errors in the story. And thanks to Michaelson for doing the interview. The reporter learned about our group here in the interview, and asked me for another fan to speak to, that knew me. I just happen to have Michaelson's business card in my wallet. And, what better guy to talk to about this Indy deal, and hats? He certainly knows more than I about the complete gear deal and films. I got cha a copy of the paper Michaelson, and will have it laminated along with the ones I bought for my kids. I will include those old Western dvds with it. Yep, finally watched everone of them. Regards, Fedora

Is that really a word? And I thought it was tough to remember MI-crooked letter-crooked letter-I-humpback-humpback-I.While Delk has yet to sell an Indy fedora to a Mississippian, he's sold them all over the world.
Congrats on the article guys. Yeah, its a shame that they didn't put in a mention of Marc's involvement, but I can see it's a "home town boy makes good" type of article. You should all be proud.

Great article for those that are new or haven't been around COW since the days you guys were figuring out all the details of the hat. It is a shame they didn't include your comments about Marc. In a post elsewhere here you mentioned some interviews causing you to take time away from making the hats. Are there any other articles coming out in other publications we need to watch for?? I love your comment about having to watch the movie twice. And I agree that pic would make a great avatar.

hat
great Story and great photo. Congrats ounce again my friend.
The Matrix doesn't have legs. It was flavor of the month. It's not for the ages. I said that to people at the time. The franchise is already starting to be forgotten. Not to hijack this thread. Congratulations to all involved.Castor Dioscuri wrote:I might be wrong, but I'm assuming the reason why the gear is being so prominently featured in the media this time around is because... well, Indiana Jones has now established himself completely as a cultural icon, and a legend!Bullitt wrote:Correct me if I'm wrong, but I never saw articles about the Gear suppliers from the other movies. PS- I happen to know the real "Neo" (at least the guy that the character was based on). Ironically, he's a huge Star Wars fan.

whew.....i'm glad you said it steve....omitting marc was what i meant about "some minor detail errors" but i didn't want to open up a can of wormsFedora wrote:Well, no mention of Marc. Great article and congrats again Steve!!!!
I'm going to have to print it off and place it behind the frame of my "Piece 'O Indy" hat you sent.
...and Michaelson, you might pray none of your students/facility members read that article . If they find out you're a "Florida Native", there might be some, ... errr, repercussions...
