I can't help you with a video link. I don't believe one exist because I searched also when I first decided to make nylon whips. What I ended up doing was reading as much as I could about whip making and then do my best to follow the same techniques with nylon. Except for the bolsters, the construction can be very similar. The biggest difference is that you need a weighted core in the nylon whip which may not be needed in a leather whip. The ones I have made have 4 bellies over weighted cores and a duct tape bolter. There are a lot of great whip makers on here that know 100 times more than I do and I'm sure they would be willing to answer questions for you once you start.

I have been making nylon whips for about 4 years and leather for about 2. I have been talking for a while about making a video on the techniques of nylon whip making and possibly even one for leather whips. I have seen a few interests from people but woundering how much is actually out there. I think that I would charge $50 to about $100 for the videos, but I won't make them unless people are interested so I guess im asking who would purchase one of my videos on nylon whip making techniques. One can see my work at

I would be interested...but at those prices they would have to have some real production value. A camcorder transfered to dvd on the other hand would be worth about $10 (to me).

If your looking for real great production value you are not going to find it anywhere, good production comes at price, if I wanted to rent a studio and such that would cost alot of money. I want to teach people through demonstration how to make a whip. Want I want to do is to show people how making a whip is done(this production would not be all shakey camera shots that people are unable to tell what was going on) Also even if you want to buy a book about whip making you would spend way more then $10 and there is going to be parts that you do not understand because it is easier to see the techniques demonstration. I think that the price range that I said is very fair given that you are being showen how to make a whip from and actual whip maker who has been doing it for years.

Once you make the video, it would cost hardly anything to reproduce it. I'm sure you would sell a lot more if you had a lower price ($15 - $20).

Are you not so much paying for software but for knowledge though?

I've always looked at it this way. There is some knowledge I'll give away for free. But in the end it's not how low a price I can put on it, contrary to popular belief, it's what I value my time an energy at. So far I've put almost two decades into learning the whip. Sure I'm willing to help others get started but I have a pay scale once you really want to learn.
In this case, if the videos are good, and it seems they would be, $30-$50 seems reasonable, if not more. Why? Because I value the effort that they put into learning the craft and am willing to pay them what it's worth. Never sell yourself short or others will do the same. I look forward to the video, no matter WHAT the price.

Im sure, no matter what price you decide on, there will be people that will buy it.
