Hey everyone. I'm Corey, and I never thought I would do an Indy costume until recently. Now, I'm a SW fan, and I've put together a very accurate and nice Vader costume, so I thought my costuming days were over. The a few weeks ago I was asked to be a speaker for a retreat with high schoolers. My topic was 'Life is an adventure...with God', so I pondered for a week or so what creative thing I could do that epitomized adventure. Then I saw the new trailer. That was it-Indiana Jones! Now, I've always been a fan of the films, but I'd never considered a full costume.
I had two days to get a costume together, so I went to BCF and picked up a very cheap Fedora (and actually, not that bad looking). I had a close enough leather jacket, so I hit Goodwill and picked up pants and a very close shirt, as well as some shoes that I modified to look more like Aldens. I had an old replica Colt and holster, so I got a cheap belt at Target and picked up a truly pathetic whip for $4. The only thing I really lacked was a bag. All in all, it went over extremely well, and I only spent about $20 on the whole thing.
Now I want to make it better. I ordered my Federation, a new bag, new holster and gun, bought a new whip, and am getting some better close enough boots. The only real downer is the jacket...but I have no funds for a new one, and my old one works okay. I'm just glad I found this place!
