New guy, new hat

Greetings & Salutations,
I'm Brandon, I've been lurking for about a month or so after I decided to start putting together an Indy costume. Since my hat arrived today, I figured now would be an appropriate time to say "hi". So, Hi!
I've been an Indy fan since I first saw the films over 20 years ago; I was lucky enough to be old enough to see
Last Crusade in the cinema 19 years ago now, so I'm definitely looking forward to
Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. I also got to recently rediscover how great the original films were through the eyes of someone who'd never seen them before; somehow my 80 year old grandmother had never watched them! We rectified that as soon as we found out, and wonderully, she loved them.
Anyway, as part of the gear I ordered, my brown Federation Deluxe from Hatsdirect arrived today. The open crown is a bit intimidating, but I'm looking at the great tutorials and picture archives you've got around here, so I feel that once I've studied up I'll be able to do a decent job of it.
I'll post photos as I progress if you're interested (or as soon as I work out how to lower the flash settings on the camera).
Be seeing you,
Brandon (AKA Captain Threepwood)

Welcome aboard, Brandon! Always good to meet another Aussie.
You begin with a hat, then think a jacket might be a good idea, then a bag, then why not a whip... and it keeps going.
There are some great people around these parts...
I hope you enjoy the craziness!

Welcome onboard!
IMO, get the whip before the bag, you never know, could be useful

I know what you mean about getting the bug. First it was my AB TOD hat. Then I figured - OK time to get a jacket to go with the hat cause I need something when it is cold. Then I got a couple of "close enough" shirts to wear under the jacket. And, well since I've gone this far - now I have an 8' whip. Oh yea - I got another jacket in a different leather. Now that I have all this leather - I've got a couple of different Pecard leather treatments coming. Now I've got my eye on a screen accurate shirt. In the mean time I've ordered two more AB's. Then someone found a site with some original gas mask bags so it is on its way as well. Someone else is making a Webley gun with my name on the list. It's a virus that gets ahold of you and won't let go, but it all started innocently enough with the dermatologist telling me I needed to start wearing a hat. She had no idea what she was starting. Welcome aboard and get ready to have a thinner wallet. And OH yea - the people here are great - you will love it.

Finally, the standard shot of me wearing the Hat:

This was both easier and harder than I thought it'd be, but I'm pleased with the results. Comments, critiques and suggestions welcomed.
I am looking forward to the next time I see a good friend of mine who's also a huge Indy fan and drawling, "You lost today kid. That doesn't mean you have to like it..." before jamming this onto his head
Hopefully some more of my gear will arrive this week. Appropriate posts will be made when it does.
Be seeing you,
Captain Threepwood

WOW,
nice fedora one problem is though that i think you should get the brim to curl on the sides to give it a cut snap effect like in raiders, it is too flat at the moment.
