Hey all,
Just ordered a whip from Bernardo - Raiders in the "BullwhipBorton" pattern - length - 9 feet. Yep, I said 9 feet. I want a compromise whip between the 8-foot Cairo and the 10-foot belt hanger.
Can't wait to compare it with my 10' Morgan and 8' Rhett Kelley!
Will keep you all posted!

Hey Indy French, does Bernardo take paypal yet? I have been wondering cause it says "he cannot accept paypal at this time." Sending money through western union is not the greatest way to send money sometimes, money order is bit better I guess. Anyway, hope you enjoy your 9 footer when it gets there. I am waiting on a Strain 8' Raiders whip. Hope your whip turns out great.

Chris,
He is still not taking PayPal - I'm waiting to order as well - I'm not to keen on WU either.

Well I guess that keeps me in the same position as you IndyMo, oh well I don't why Bernardo does not have paypal yet. Did Peru ban such transactions like PayPal there? Just is interesting. Hope to order a whip from Bernardo maybe in the summer or near the end of this year.

Peru does not have Paypal. Bernardo told me he would use it as soon as Peru allowed it.

Well, at this moment Paypal supports accounts from Peru, but only for us to send payments, not receive them.
I am aware most of my customers and potential customers prefer Paypal, so I am making the neccessary arrangements now to be able to accept such payments.
The good news is that from April, I'm taking Paypal payments! there's more news, but all in good time
)
Thank you!

Took my del Carpio for a walk the other day - a leisurely afternoon stroll in the countryside near where I live. There are deadly brown snakes around at times here, so the whip is not without a practical element as well as for fun. I nearly trod on a largish 'common brown' as they are known, once, on a walk here (he was sunning himself, right in my path. I didn't see him until I was 8 feet away, and heading straight for him. He stood his ground, and was going to 'take me on').
Anyway....back to the del Carpio. I enjoy going for such walks. I'll enjoy it even more when I get my Benjamin Scott whip holder. Well, I practiced the Cairo X crack with my new whip on this outing and I did very well with it. That second diagonal crack is coming along well. I actually got it to crack louder than the first crack.

Are you going to work for Mr. Morgan? He might want someone to carry on his whips when he retires.

Oh no, that's not the news
)
He's got enough help in his shop with Meagan and his grandson. As for who's going to make the whips when he retires, well, who knows? maybe Meagan will.
But I am visiting DM again in a few months' time. I am really looking forward to see him again. I had such a great time there!

IndyFrench, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed with your choice or bullwhip or whip maker. The raiders bullwhip that I had gotten from Bernardo was a really impressive whip and thats something I dont say lightly.
I know what his news is.... Congraulations, Bernardo is going to be the whipmaker for Indy 5!
Kidding. I'll let him tell everyone when he's ready.

Just out of curiosity (I'm thinking of ordering a whip Bernardo someday) what is the bullwhipborton pattern? What makes it noteworthy? :junior: -M

I don’t know if I’d call it a specific pattern, Basically it was a copy of an original 8ft long Raiders of the Lost ark bullwhip made by David Morgan which was owned by one of our members and had been documented by Sergei, before being sold off at auction.
I just made a few very specific requests, mostly cosmetic at the time asking Bernardo to match the shape and smoothness of the Turkshead knot and make the ring knot a hint darker then the rest of the whip. I also asked for a extra piece of kangaroo lace tied on the wrist loop and having the popper tied on with the more traditional style knot accurate to the movie, which happened to be the knot i use on my whips. You can take a look at the original post to see some pictures of how it turned out here
