Just a quick question from a newbie....I am looking into buying a Wested...first of all, what is the difference in the Authentic "Seal" Brown and the Authentic Brown??? I guess Wested's use of the word "authentic" is throwing me off...I, of course, want a jacket that is as screen accurate as possible. Thanks in advance for any shared wisdom.

I believe they are one in the same. The Seal refers to a general resemblance to the color of the aquatic mammal. I think a while back Wested found some leather left over from the original film jacket and had the color of their seal brown matched to it and hence started referring to their seal brown as Authentic Brown but I think the descriptive term seal is still used in referring to it.

Screen accuracy is a highly debated matter of opinion and varies a lot from scene to scene. If you prefer a darker look go with the dark brown and if you prefer more of a rich dark brown then the authentic is your ticket. If you plan on distressing for a more exact match you might consider the tanning process... I think the originals may have been tanned using an older process that strips yielding slightly different color variations... not really 100% sure. i certainly wouldn't recommend treating a jacket this way if you intend to wear it long term.
