Guide to Custom Indy Hat

Post by afrayedknot »

Has anyone used this as a guide for their fedora (copied from Peter Bros. website)?

Tall and have a thin face the regular Raiders.

Tall and round face Crusade with a taller crown.

Medium height and thin face Crusade with a Raiders pinch.

Medium height and round face regular Crusade.

Shorter and thin face Temple with a Raiders pinch.

Shorter and round face regular Temple.

What were the results? Do the pinch, taper, and crown height make all the difference in framing your face? I'm trying to put together some specs for an AB Deluxe. If I send Marc a picture of my face and head shape, will I need to make any specifications?

There's a thread at the bottom of the page that discussed fedoras to match your face in much greater detail than the PB guide. IMO, all the Indy fedoras are similar enough that they suit the same body/face. As much as we distinguish between the different hats, they are, as Bernie said, "nuance differences." Fortunately, my own face seems perfectly suited to the Indy fedoras, but you might be interested in this...

Yeah mine too...particularly the Raiders hat...mind you, I still look ugly in it, but I look LESS ugly with an Indy hat than without it. :junior: -M

Both Steve and Marc have stated that they will create a perfect hat for me. Does anyone know if they use a similar guide based on pictures sent by the customer? Or are they just that good?

If you send Marc (or Steve) a picture of yourself, he will surely help you to get the hat with features that most suit your face shape.

If you send Steve or marc a photo of yourself they will get right. I don't know what use to get it right. They are just that good.

Alright, you guys have boosted my confidence in Marc's ability to create the perfect hat for my face. Are there other specs I should be considering in an AB Deluxe? All I've decided on so far is a Raiders bash and turn.
