Just got my new Cabelas!

Post by Dalexs »

With all the talk about the stone cabelas being THE shirt to have, i decided to use a xmas exchange and get myself one. Seeing how i'm the guy trying to perfect the color, I figure i should have one.

Image

Initial thoughts, everyone is right, the color is very good.
Alittle more sandyish then the current color of my recipe.
The color is similar to that of computer beige (putty???).

Unfortunately I hate the material. I am an all cotton kind of guy and the poly combo doesn't do it for me. I may return it for that reason.

The fit is excellent. Similar to Renderking, I'm 5'11.5, about 170lbs.
The medium tall was perfect,
(I have the dreaded orangutang arms affliction...).
Much better the the LLBean fit in the same size.

Pockets are alittle big, but i like the pen holder, and I really don't mind the darker buttons. And the empulets are alittle short.

Just my .02.

Dalexs,
That was my reaction. But after awhile it grows on you.

Actually for 3 season wear, in my opinion, I like it better. The shirt is probably the most durable shirt in my inventory. The cotton/poly blend, I find that it drys much faster than an all cotton shirt. In real hot weather I will agree with you, this shirt is bear to wear and the all cotton shirt out performs this cotton/poly. Stains, just wipe right off. I've had pizza sauce, wine, nasty coffee, and an errant fall of the whip strike my sleeves and the stains just wipe away. If you are a slob, the shirt keeps you looking snappy.

And the price, my GOD!

If you do a "plus", "minus" tabulation, I think you might see your answer better.

Just my .02....

Glad you like the shirt... I'm hooked on it now and I'll be buying one every month till my closet's full of them.

I would advise LL Bean to get on the stick. All Cotton is the way too go in the dog days of summer... but the sleeves are way too short on the LL Bean Safari shirt. Cabalas is a superior shirt at almost half the price!

I love this shirt. I went for 2 in stone, one in tan/kaiki (not too bad...), and one in Forest Green. Actually, the Forest Green is really nice. Add some regular Kaiki's/Chino's and you're all Eddie Bauer looking!

I ordered another in stone a few days ago. It should arrive soon. I agree with those who could fill their closets with them. They are comfortable.

My closet is already half way filled with Indy shirts, why not finish it off.

I've been buying these shirts for over a year now. I have 5 in stone, 1 in forrest and 1 in olive. It's probably a good idea to mix the colors up. My shirt portion of the closet is looking like a khaki military surplus store. :-)

Sergei, it's only an illness if you buy them and don't wear them. I would wear one everyday with a tie if I could.

I normally order a shirt and a pair of 6 or 7 pocket pants three times a year. My wife wants me to slow down, because she says I need more dress shirts and pants. I said o.k. I'll only order twice a year. So much gear, so little time.
