beside the instruction on todd's page on distressig the bag, Is there any other way to make the MKVII look more worn and dirty?

That is what I will do. thank you. I'd also discover a trick to make it look worn too. I use a darker color dye mix with dark green and dark brown in a very small amount, almost like a tint. and dip you bag into it for ten second. Now it has a dirty look to it.

Bury it in your backyard for a couple days.

Use you bag as often as possible and time will do the best distressing job for you

Good thinking on the dye...just make sure you wash it out thoroughly. However, washing something that 65 years old too much may make it age prematurely...but these things can take a beating. MY first bags were MKVIIs from Australia...tan in color. I spent A LOT of time dying, bleaching, re-dying, and washing in the washing machine, and only after all of that did it break down a little bit around the strap rings. More likely, it's the rings that shredded it, but in any case, you can use these pretty rigorously (within reason) and have them hold up.

Throw some sand and rocks inside it, and throw the whole shebang into the dryer! Hey, it might work!

how to distress a MKVII?

Sand paper bleach - dirt- and I've worn mine everyday for the passed 5 years - it's beat to ####.

I spent a while hunting out some original MK VII bags, and picked out the best looking ones I could find, greenest tints of khaki and as little signs of storage wear as possible. I have recently listed some for sale and again have people asking about condition and asking me to pick out a nice one for them.
Now the first thing we all do with our 'new' MK VII bag is to run out and beat the ~@&% out of it and 'distress it'. lol Is it just me or does it strike anyone else as ironic?

When i bought my replica way back when I didn't even want to take it out and use it until I dipped it in bleach, threw it in the backyard for a while, and took some rusty sandpaper to it.
