I just ordered a pair of these. I'll post a short review when they arrive in a bout a week...unless someone beats me to it, then we'll just compare opinions.

I was not sure if anyone would get the reference. I have been lurking for about a month and have learned a ton.

Thanks for the warm welcome. :)

But that doesn't mean you have to like it.

Got my pants to day (and LL Bean close enough shirt) The good news is that pants fit great (34 / 34) and the quality was top notch. I love the material and the drape of the pants.
The bad news is they sent me Khaki, but I thought I ordered taupe. Taupe is no longer listed on the site so who knows. :?

To my eye the khaki color is significantly more "mustard" than the website indicates. I still may keep them and put them through the paces in the field to see how they hold up, as they are nice.
The color on the shirt is the same story, too much "mustard" in LL's color palate. Other than the cosmetic, both pieces are quality pieces of gear.

I may try Cabela's in stone. http://tinyurl.com/28mrpj

Peace,

Mark

I'll sell my pants at $19 to anyone who wants it and can fit into them: 32x32. The material is ok, but overall, I just don't like it. I'll put it in the for sale area with some photos...

I agree - the color doesn't look at all like the picture on their site. I'll hang on to both my pairs of pants though because I can wear them to work. I guess I'll have to keep looking for Indy pants....

Personally I don't like the cut.

I guess I'll hold on to my Target "Ultimate Khakis" until the LLBeans arrive, then!

My pair arrived and I've never seen a fabric like that before. I don't know what to do with it. It doesn't look right for business wear, and I don't want to be wearing dry-clean only britches in the field.

How's the color though, RB? :junior: -M

Mine arrived, and they are indeed a little strange, but in the end I liked them better than the ones from Target.

Their color is more brownish than one would expect, and darker. Plus, the material has a diagonal pattern to the weave that almost looks like corduroy up close.

Still, my Target khakis look almost grey in comparison, and looked and felt more like the "business casual" attire that they are as opposed to Indy pants. The L.L.Bean ones just felt nicer to wear, the material seems more durable, and the color more warm.

So, not really an endorsement, just that I like them better than Target Ultimate Khakis.

Yeah, kind of an almost "orangey" shade as well.

I bought two pair, one khaki, one charcoal, and I think they're awesome! Absolutely the best pairs of $19 pants I've ever bought! :D They're great for the office, but I, too, didn't think about the wool requiring dry cleaning. I guess others don't agree but they're they best pair of khakis I've ever bought!

I just got my two pairs of khaki pants in the mail, and I really like them. They've got a pretty good color for the LC pants and while the texture's a bit weird, they're still really nice...my only problem is that the placement of the button makes them fairly tight at the waist. I'll have to have that fixed later. :junior: -M

The ad says they are "whipcord fabric". According to the definitions of textiles at apparelsearch.com, "Whipcord is a strong worsted or cotton fabric made of hard-twisted yarns with a diagonal cord or rib". It is a little different than your run-of-the-mill khakis, but who wants run-of-the-mill?

And hey, nothing says Indiana Jones like a fabric with the word "whip" in it...hahaha...why's nobody laughing with me? Guys? Guys? :junior: -M

Yeah, I think I'm definitely going to do that too. Shame, seeing as they're great pants. Not strictly screen accurate, but very period accurate nonetheless. :junior: -M
