leather facings

Post by Holt »

Hi...I was just looking at peter wested site...again.....and there it says that the standard jacket is with inside leather facings for more durable streetwear and the special ROTLA does not have the inside leather facings.

does this mean that the jacket without will just last a couple years if wearing it much?...and the inside linnen will just tare from the zipper?

anybody got a jacket without inside facings and did not last long?or do they hold up just fine?

hope someone has any good answers to these questions?.....cause I am a bit worried that my new jacket won't last that long if it tears easly...I plan on wearing it alot...

High regards

Holy cow... this is not good news, Holt.
I'm worried about what you're saying with the durability of your new jacket.
Unlike the Standard raiders which has slight modification to make it durable and street wearable this 'film jacket' although equally wearable is more lightweight.
Mmmm...

You just got to be more carefully when moving the zipper, but if you damage the lining it could always be repaired.
And that could be not cool on an Armani, but it will work great for an Indy Jacket...So just use it carefully, as Indy would...

I really wouldn't think that not having any facings would have any effect on whether the lining tears away from the leather. Like Odo said though, the only downside would be chance of tearing the lining because of the zipper. But that hasn't happened to me so far, personally speaking.

On the positive side, no leather facings IS a screen-accurate feature, and gives you that Indy drape! :)

yes I know.the drape is very important to me too.

so you say personally...do you have the jacket without facings then?

how has it distressed?does it distress quikly?

the reason why I ask this is bcause I dont know how deep the coloring sits on the jacket?

The jacket isn't about to fall apart though, is it Eric?

I'm wondering whether I should cancel my order for a Special Offer now...?
I've read that the stitching doesn't appear to be as good as a standard Raiders Wested either?

I have jackets with and without leather facings. Personally speaking, my first two jackets had leather facings, and I bought my third without facings. After that, all the other jackets I bought I specifically requested that there be no facings.

I'm not sure I understand your question, but the leather facing is just a 1-2 inch strip of leather inside the jacket beside the zipper. The leather facing is almost like a sweatband inside a fedora. It's just a measure to protect the lining from the zipper.

It isn't really anything drastic, so I really doubt distressing a jacket with or without facings would make much of a difference, but then again, I should admit that I've never tried to purposely distress a jacket.

I have just spoken to Peter and he said the facings was just there to retain the front shape of the jacket and because somtimes people tend to pull the zipper up hard and then it gets stuck...

he said not worrie about it and it is just a durable and wearable streetwear jacket as the standard
