Looking for pics of a TOD-AB (bridge scene, specifically), if anyone has one.

Thanks, Andy

I honestly don't remember what scene I asked Steve to pattern my TOD after but here it is:

Right out of the box (ignore that serious look  )

I decided to tighten the pinch and lower the upper part of the pinch (not sure what the correct term is for that part :-k )

And finally - Indiana Calamity Jane (raising that one was a handfull #-o)

My avatar is the same hat.

Thanks for the pics; gives me a better idea of what I'll be getting. I found an already-made but unworn TOD-Bridge Scene-AB, and wanted to get an idea what it'll look like.

What's the writing say? "Same felt as Ford's"?

Yup - that's what it says. Steve made a hat to present to Harrison Ford. Notice the date the hat was made - August 2006 which was well before Steve and Marc were awarded the honor of being the hatters for the KotCS. Some of the hats he made for others at that same time were from the same cut of felt. Mine was one of them. Fedora will have to fill in any details from here.

I have one I wear almost every day made of the same felt.

Believe me, that hat will break in as smooth as silk, and has an unreal 'memory'. You'll see what I mean as time progresses, especially when you have to make 'adjustments' with your brim.

Mine was made on July 25, 2006, according to the sweatband.

VERY nice looking AB, my friend!

HIGH regards! Michaelson

Thank you Michaelson. I wear my hat every day to work (downtown Houston) and get a lot of compliments. And you are very right about the breaking in. At first it was a little stiff and as much as I read about people pounding on their hats to soften them up, I prefer the newer look. Even so, it has loosened up nicely and now feels very comfortable. The wind will sometimes blow hard between the buildings downtown and I was afraid it would blow off but so far I just snug it down and it stays put. I went to one of the local western stores to get a brush and the guy that shapes the hats there for the customers asked about my hat. When I told him it was pure beaver his eyes lit up and he asked if he could hold it. He slid his hand gently around the crown and was very impressed. He told me I had a great hat there.

This is helpful, thanks fellas. I'm buying the TOD that Nevada Jones posted in the Cairo Bizarre, and am eagerly waiting to lay my hands on an AB for the first time. I thought I was going to have to wait until May for my KOTCS, but the wife surprised me for my birthday by freeing up the funds. I'm thinking it should be here by next Friday or the following Monday.

Your wife probably has no idea what a great gift she has given you. You will absolutely love it. Be sure to get her something nice for Valentine's Day and post pics OF THE HAT when you get it. I like mine so much I'm sitting here waiting patiently (and at the same time anxiously) for my RotLA and my KotCS AB's.

[-X :rolling: No worries, fellas!!! It's good to have a laugh once in a while; I think she'd get a belt out of that, too!

On another note, I payed Nevada jones for the hat today, we'll see when it shows up. I will be sure to take pics of it for all to see. Just in case though... I'm typically a 7 5/8 and this hat is a 7 3/4. If, by some chance, the hat is too big to be adjusted with just foam or felt under the sweatband, does anyone know if Steve does down-sizing on his lids? I don't plan on re-selling it at all, at all, at all, just curious if that option was available (if I even need it).

I never thought I'd like the TOD hat....until now.

Thanks for the compliments guys. When I ordered it I was a real newby at Indy hats. I had been lurking around here for quite a while and found out about Fedora's Adventurebilt hats. I knew everyone was impressed with the quality but everyone was getting the RotLA hat and I just wanted to try something else. I contacted Steve (back when he wasn't nearly as busy as he is now) and via emails he told me he didn't make many TOD's. So I took a chance and ordered it. That's when he told me about the felt that he had used to make the hat for Ford. Well that just made the hat that much more special. I have never regretted it. I have since read a lot more about all the styles and several weeks before the news broke about Steve and Marc and the KotCS I had already ordered the RotLA and the KotCS hats. As I said earlier I wear it to work every day and everyone is used to seeing me in it. I'm anxious to see if they can tell a difference when I start switching out the styles.

You'll have to let us know if people notice the style changes.

By the way airforceindy - here is a more recent pic of the TOD. I added a little more rugged look with the beard (unfortunately it used to be darker than it is now but hey - I'll bet Ford's is a little lighter too by now) and a jacket. You KNOW the jacket is going to be next on the list.

Oh yes, I know about the jacket. I'm afraid my trusty Eddie Bauer leather will have to suffice for now, though! That's an awful lot of money to be shelling out all over the place. I know... I know, it doesn't have to be all at once, but still... IF (and when) I do get a jacket, it'll have to be a Wested, LC style. That much I HAVE decided :D

The beard classes things up a bit, I think. I've often found myself wishing the military looked a little more kindly on facial hair than they currently do...

Ditto. I'd like to try on Michaelson's beard sometime, but that'll have to wait a decade or so.

If you're looking for jackets, US Wings has a discount for military. It keeps their prices at the lower end (especially since you don't have to convert to British Pounds).
