Wested ordering screw up?

Post by Toolbox78 »

As I mentioned in a pevious post, I just placed an order from Wested's for my first Indy Jacket. However, with further review I'm not quite sure I the measurements I had taken, and thus gave to peter were whatr he was looking for. The information I gave him is as follows:
Height: 6\"1
Chest: 41\"
Sleeve: 17\"
Jacket_Size: 42 Long
Jacket style: Raiders Jacket
Leather: Dark Brown - Durable Goatskin
Lining / Zip: Cotton Body-Satin Sleeves / Brass
Side Fastener: Antique Brass D Rings
Quantity: 1

Requests:
My sleeve measurement is from my armpit (with a jacket on) to the break
of my wrist. In addition my shirt size is 16 neck with a 35 sleeve. If
this is confusing please e-mail me.

It's the sleeve measurement that has me worried. Should I be?

thanks!

Usually the sleeve measurement is taken from the shoulder seam to
the break at the wrist. Peter will sometimes ask that you put down
a sleeve length from a jacket that already fits you, and that you like,
so he can compare that to his jackets.

The underarm measurement is really not needed because that dimension
will change with how big the armholes on a jacket are. Some are tighter
than others. I know a U.S. Wings Indy jacket has bigger diameter arms
than a Wested. This would make the underarm to wrist break
measurement more on the Wested than on the U.S. Wings.

But, since you did give him your actual shirt size, with the total sleeve
measurment from it, that should be good enough. That measurement is
taken from the center of the back of your neck across your shoulders,
and down to your wrist, usually with your elbow slightly bent.

I hope this helps. But if you really want to settle your nerves, just
write Peter another e-mail and ask him. You could even call if you were
really worried. He is a nice guy to talk to.

P.S.

As a matter of fact, except for your sleeve length, you and I
are the EXACT same size!! My sleeve length is about 2 inches
shorter than yours though. Now I know who to contact about
whether a certain size Wested will fit me or not!!

And I always wondered why my shirt sleeves are too long! :D
