Turning a Long Oval

Post by WeeMadHamish »

Hi folks. I've been recently thinking about making my own hat block and reblocking my Akubra Federation Regular into a better crown shape and better fit since I measured my head at the wrong angle and ended up getting two sizes too big. I kept it since I had hoped the sweat would shrink to a better fit, and it has a bit but not enough. And the thing just looks huge on my head, so I'm hoping to lower the crown a bit (I think it's 6 inches open crown on a size 60.)

At any rate, it seems I also have a long oval head. Would I be better off going with a long oval for the hat block, or would the distorted crown look funny with a turned Raiders bash? Would I be better off sticking with a regular oval and stuffing my head into it? Wasn't that the case with the Raiders HJ?

Any opinions would be appreciated. Thanks. :)

You wouldn't have to turn it as much if it was a regular oval. I have a hat that I turned 90 degrees for the heck of it.
