Hello, all! I'm new here, so I apologize if this has already been addressed. But I was wondering what the original use of the leather bag strap was before it replaced the web strap on the MKVII. Also, do you know anyplace that makes it in a black leather?

Hey. The bag strap had no original use, rather it was something rigged up by the costume dept. (To the best of my knowledge)
As for obtaining a decent strap, the man to speak to would be Indy Magnoli - any colour from any of the films. Hope this helps.

There is a theory that the strap represents a modified rifle sling.
