A leather called "Vintage Goatskin", perhaps it was "Antiqued"..like their Lambskin but I really think it was called "Vintage". Does anyone else recall this? I think someone posted a picture of a US Wings jacket they had received during the big clearance sale of '07. It didn't quite have the narley surface of the lamb but was somewhat like it. I looked at their website but can not find anything on it now.. I know it wasn't the vintage cowhide also.

I don't recall a vintage goatskin in the Indy jackets, though they did have one in cowhide.

perhaps you are getting us wings confused with us authentic/flightjackets. they have both a vintage goat and horse.

No I'm not confusing the two because what made me remember it was that it was part of the clearance sale that Wings had in the spring, and I distinctly remember it being a dark color (un-like US Auth's vintage goatskin). Can anyone link me to the big thread dealing with US Wings' clearance sale, where everyone was posting their jackets? I can't find it to save my life in the archives.

Thanks Michaelson, I've been searching for the big clearance thread and can't find it, though I do find other smaller threads regarding the same. Do you know if it's been archived? Oh, BTW I notice that USW does currently sell a vintage goatskin G-1(? I think) from Cockpit.

I never did.. I think Lamb makes them look much better. I have been thinking about coming out with some limited Indy Jackets... Why don't you post that question.. What leather would you like your next Indy Jacket made out of?

OK, well the mistery is partially solved.. I said I remembered the guy posting that his Wings jacket was a "Vintage Goatskin"..see I just bought that very jacket from our brother IndyBlues (the second owner). He told me he remembers the guy posting that description too, way back. Apparently though when it was put up for sale he called it "Antiqued Lambskin" so who knows, I guess it has to be Lambskin from what Hack told Michaelson but really I don't care because I think it rocks either way! But I will say that the pictures of it look different than the "Antiqued Lambskin" one that I already have, and that G-MANN posted IMHO. So here are the pictures that I was looking for that the original owner posted (I'm not sure who he is, and hope he doesn't mind).

Yea, I agree because really I already like the leather they are offering. It's not the leathers that's keeping folks from buying more of their jackets, so much as it's the pattern that's being used. I fully plan to have the above jacket re-worked and fully altered once I have it.

Like I said, TELL him! He's open to suggestions.

I also brought up the problem with the added batting between the regular lining and the leather that many folks don't like due to the drape and extra weight. I told him many folks open the seams and pull it out anyway. He says that will be addressed as well, so if you have any thoughts or ideas, let him know. He's in a receptive mood.

May I suggest that with the Indiana Jones jackets:

Military All cotton lining

Military fit with slimmer sleeves.

Also if Horse Hide became available in the Indy style, that would be icing on the cake.

I am making some Lamb Indy Jones Monday and like what I see.. My Factory in the next 90 days will make some 4,000. Indy Jackets and we just ordered 5,000. Indy Hats.. I don't know if you know Mark Allen of not But Mark does the Roo Whips.. He has put our Indy Goat Skin in His Catalog.

All of our leather is Veg. Drum Dyed...and of course pre washed.... We are a Union Factory and made in the USA 100 % Mark Has ask us to make a light weight Vin. Cow with a US Mil. Cotton Lining.. That of course is no Problem.

You guys realize that their Goatskin jacket is like $265 right now, that's a great price.. and Veg tanned? is that the same as veg. drum dyed - I think it is basically.

Hey Sgt. Hack!

Michaelson from Club Obi Wan informed the forum that you were interested in some changes in the Indy jacket line. One thing I can tell you for sure is that your jackets are second to none in the area of craftsmanship and materials! I have owned 3 of your jackets and each was tough as nails! I love the goat and I also own one of the Vintage Cowhide jackets.

The only area where they are lacking is in a few small details in the pattern.

1) The area where the collar meets the storm flap – It is screen accurate (for each movie) the collar stand to extend longer to the end of the storm flap and the collar itself to attach to the storm flap in the middle (see attached pics)

2) The back panel – currently, your jacket have the back panel not quite reaching out to the arm seams as it is in the film jackets. That would be a big improvement!!!! (photo included)

3) The poly batting between the lining and the skin is not necessary. It could be added as an option at a slightly higher cost (for cold weather wear)

4) And last, the upper arm on the current US Wings jackets tends to be over sized. I have an older US Wings jacket that has the tighter/better fitting upper arm.

If it would be possible to iron out those design issues, could see the US Wings jacket being the favorite of the indygear forum… And you know those guys (me included) buy a lot of jackets!

I will set down with my Factory with your ideas.. Our Jackets are Union Made and made in the USA and Not farmed out to China.. Nor is the Lining. I want to come up with a Jacket that 99.9% like.. and that may be very hard to do... From what I understand the 1V Indy has a Vin. Cow and I will make the same But use My A-2 Cotton Lining Plus I may use your ideas as long as I don't rock the boat..

BTW I think Mark Cross is a Great Guy.

Looks good, but personally I'm not looking for another lambskin entry myself.

At minimum, a lightweight cowhide gets my vote, and in line with the new Indy IV jacket too!

Looks good. I have a new antiqued lambskin jacket that I picked up during the clearance sale that is about the same color as yours. I don't have any pictures of it to post, but it's dark brown like yours and has a dark reddish lining with a black with gold lettering US Wings label, not like ther newer ones. It also feels heavier and puffier than the goatskins I have.

I haven't actually received this one yet but the one you (Kobol) describe sound like the one I do have, and received via the clearance sale. But the one I posted further up seems soo much different to me, it reminds me of goatskin and is what I remember it being described as when originally posted. Unfortunately it looks like the main "US Wings Clearance" thread has been deleted at some point or I could varify this. BTW, why would that thread be gone already? I think it is only a year old or less.

I understand that you may be considering offering some changes for us Indiana Jones jacket fans. Well let me say thanks for working with us and deciding to do something like that and let me assume you it's the kind of thing that really puts a smile on our collective faces. I'll keep this short with a small list of my $.02 ... 1) make the upper part of the sleeves narrower than they've been in the past. 2) make the bi-swing back panel wider at the top - extend it out closer to the where the sleeves meet the body. 3) round off the edges of the pocket flaps, making them more curvy. 4) no leather connecting the linning to the zippers. 5) leather - a thin vegetable tanned hide with plenty of grain and character.

I will also offer this Jacket in 3X Reg. and Longs FYI.. Over the years I have tried to work very close with the Indy Fans and Most know me very well.

That's one of the most frustrating aspects of jacket wearing for me is the curse of longs.

I'm 6'3, but I have a regular torso and long arms. Hence, a Long size fits great in the sleeves, but way too long in the waist - My 1999 44L Wested looks more like a sport coat than a Raiders jacket because of that.

I guess off the rack is not an option for me. Custom is the only way it will happen...

While my current (clearance) Antique Lambskin has the same surface texture as your A2..it does not come across that brightly colored. It's more of an authentic brown as opposed to the russet color of yours. I like that color btw, but it's pretty strange the variations we get with these hides or skins. Thanks for posting it.
