maybe if i grow my hair longer than my wife's, dye it blonde, and get magnoli to make me some SA brett micheals spandex pants, i can pull off the look i want with that jacket while playing some poison on guitar hero...........then again i wouldn't drop $31K on that thing.....that's like 31 belstaff jackets!!!!

I have seen some of this guys jackets. I think they are in Rin Tanaka's books too. The style is popular with the Asian market, I believe, for obvious reasons. Definitely unique. While it may not be my cup of tea, I cannot help but admire and appreciate the intricate designs.

...but not 31 good Belstaff jackets. The Hero and Trialmaster Legend are very popular and more like $1400+

Axl Rose used to wear one of these.
And although I would never wear it, I cannot deny that it is a piece of art.

As a craftsman, all I can say is WOW! That is an unbelievably beautiful piece of work. I can see why the rich and famous go for these in a big way. Sure, it's not my style, but then.. I have no style.

Sort of "Edward Scissorhands" meets "The Terminator". Incredible.

I hate to be a.... well something I can't type without being edited... BUT;

While I agree that the idividual elements of the jacket show some serious skill, the complete package. Um, Ick. I've seen nicer jackets of that style in K-Mart! I have nothing against those types of jackets (even owned one back when I still had my youthful figure), but this looks to me like the proof that great craftmen don't always make great art.

I think it's hideous. Sorry, guys. If that means I have no taste, then so be it. On the up side, it might be worth 31K to rid the world of such a tragic mutilation of good leather.

how dare you insult the world of art chewie!!! would you spit on the mona lisa or......oh who am i kidding......i share the same opinion my friend. i wouldn't use that thing to "clean my backside" even if the only other option was 100 grit sandpaper.

yes, i do see that thought and skill was used to construct the jacket.....and that someone mashed all of this together in an eclectic proposal to appease an artistic eye (of whom has an "acquired" taste)......if you like the design, then all the power to you. i for one do not. the jacket looks cheap because of the fact that it is so busy and has no elegance to it. sorry, thats my take.....and if you disagree with it...then i'll see you at the bike racks after school

The price is ridiculus no doubt, but this doesn't change the fact that it's a work of art. Or we may think that the price is too high because it's a jacket. Would you guys say the same if it was a painting?

Don't forget also that Indy's jacket sold for more in that auction...

If you want to pay that much for a jacket, go for it. Personally, I think it's a rediculous price for an article of clothing.

A painting is an investment that you hang on the wall to admire. You hope it will gain in value as time passes. A jacket is supposed to be worn. If you're looking to make the comparison to a painting, then you're also hoping the jacket will gain in value and is an investment. You would probably not wear it if that was the case, and the resale market would be quite a narrow one indeed, as the number of expensive jacket collectors vs. painting collectors is astronomical in number comparison.

As to Ford's jacket, they paid for the provenance and it's connection to a film, NOT especially for the jacket 'value'. We all know the jacket is only worth about $200. We can buy them every day from Peter Botwright. Once again, a completely different collector and collector market.

If I had so much money it didn't make any difference, sure, why NOT pay that much for clothing, but a jacket that cost almost as my first house is a bit off the chart to me.

For what it is worth, that jacket at the top of the page has been discounted by $4,000 from his website. My only concern about having a jacket like that is that it is used - I would want it to be a custom tailored. It is about my size, but still... I would want to try it on.

don't forget the makeup, spandex pants and kiss boots....you want to look authentic rick
