Quick US Wings question

Hey, merry christmas all.

I see that US Wings has a good price on th VIP jacket and I'm going to get one tomorrow after I get me a gift credit card. I do have one question though: How long does it usually take US Wings to get the jacket to your door?

The reason I ask is I want to now if I should have the jacket sent to my college (which I return to January 12) or where I'm at now. Thanks and Merry Christmas.

You'll LOVE the VIP! That's what I have. :D

Best bet, and I hate to appear to be dodging the question, but that's to call Wings and ask them! They'd have a better handle on how quickly items are getting out the door this time of year.

Looking forward to hearing what you think of the VIP when you get yours!

HIGH regards! Michaelson

I knew you would respond! I'll give them a call. I think the jacket looks great. I have a wested Raiders but don't want to pay the high oversees prices so I figured I'd give the VIP a try. I'm just curious but how long did your last order take, Michaelson?

And one more thing, I hear that there are a lot of size complaints on here. I'm 6'3 225lbs. THe chart says I should get an 2XL. Anybody have any suggestions on this? My Wested Jacket is a 44.

You knew I'd respond? Why? Just because I like my VIP? I hate to appear so obvious. I'll leave well enough alone next time round.

10 days, but that was a while back. I'm 6 feet 1+ inches and 215. I'm wearing a Large, if that's any help. I also commonly wear a size 44R.

Thanks, bodies64. I'm thinking of going with an XL for a little longer roomier fit. I'm going to use this as my winter coat.

The VIP is the PERFECT winter weight jacket too. I wore mine in Ohio a couple weeks ago when they had 40+ mph wind gusts and wind chills near zero, and I was extremely comfortable in my VIP.

It doesn't get a whole lot of wear down here in Tennessee, sad to say.... :(

Thats good to know, Michaelson. I have the possibility to move to two destinations when I graduate from college in May. One is Alaska and the othe is Dallas, Texas. I doubt I'll get to much jacket time in Dallas, maybe Alaska will pan out for me.

I ordered the US Wings vintage cowhide on a Monday and it was at the post office that following Friday. Sarge also threw in his biography and a US Wings ball cap. Great costumer service and high quality products.

Best regards,

I ordered 2 on separate occasions, and each time I placed the order by phone in the morning and got the jacket the next day, regular shipping!
It helps that I live 4 hrs away from them, also. And that they were holding my jacket in their hands when I ordered. No inventory guessing.
Good luck!

Hi Michaelson -

Question about the Wings Indy VIP Cowhide. Your description of the VIP Cowhide is that it is a jacket heavier in weight than the others. That would have been my guess also, owningan Avirex cowhide A-2. But every time I read the "specs" of the jacket on the US Wings site, I get the impression they are trying to say it light in weight, soft, and a bit of the delicate side. Comments? :?: Best for 2008! Lao Feng

Hey I live in Dallas and am always trying to talk my wife into moving the family somewhere else, I guess I'm not a big fan of this city, not enough outdoors-y things to do here JMHO. So for me Alaska would definately be the better choice of those two. However, as far as jackets are concerned I find that Dallas is very good for jacket wearing. The whole fall/winter seasons here are more suited for a jacket than a coat. I find that I get a good 5 to 6 months of straight jacket wear. Forget it once it warms up though, our evenings don't get cool like some places do in the summer. Alaska, I'd think would be more of a coat place rather than a jacket.

I agree with Doug. These cowhide Wings jackets are made for cold weather. They are physically heavy, but when worn in the right situation, they're the best.

So, forget the 'delicate' angle....the VIP is heavy and tough...just softer to the touch, as it's made from the underbelly of the cow rather than the side hide, and sourced from France. They use ALL the hide of a cow where we only use the sides and back. That's why the VIP is softer, but don't think it's more delicate because of it.

It took me a while but I purchased it today on sale at $271. They only had XL left and that's good, I'm an XL.
