I got my Fed 5 months ago and have bashed then re-bashed it a few times to try and get the right look but it just doesn't seem to satisfy me. I bought my hat before researching how to turn a hat and now I'm wishing I would have researched it a bit further but... it is what it is.

After watching the movies and the series I can see how much a difference a turned hat makes. My question is, how can I turn/re-bash my hat? I created a helluva Raiders Cairo crease on the front end and I think I can't un-crease it to move it over a half inch after the turn any suggestions?

I can see the old centered front pinch on the Raiders hat. I'd push in on the old bash with a dull butter knife, or the back of a comb, to smooth out the bump. If there's a lot of fuzz there, shave it lightly with a face razor. (Then throw sandy dusty dirt on the hat. The Raiders hat had fullers earth on it before filming began.)

I've tried that and numerous other methods but I can't get the line from my original crease out. I'll probbaly just have to buy a new one. Thanks

I'm wondering of re-blocking it would take out the crease. Maybe consult with a hatter. It wont be free but it'll be cheaper than a new one.

A hat block, some steam and, an iron. I'll wager that crease will come out.

I was think of using an iron I was just concerned about shrinkage. Thanks Suess.

Actually Erin, I was in the same position as you are right now. What I did is just turn the hat and make a new crease. So then I had two creases. Next I used a little sponge to wet the new and old crease and I rubbed it with my fingers. I did the same with the back of the hat. You can still see the old crease a little bit, but it doesn't bother me, because it makes the hat look more worn.

Be mindful of the iron. Nothing will shrink a damp hat, quicker.
