I was in the Cabela's store in Buda, Texas (south of Austin) just before I left to return to Iraq this time. They had a S&W Model 22 Classic, 4'' barrel with the shrouded ejector rod, and it had a lanyard ring in the butt of the grip. I had not seen this model with a lanyard ring before, but they are installing them on at least some of them. It also had the checkered walnut old panel-type service grips installed as well. As far as modern revolvers go, it's a pretty close copy of the Stembridge revolver (but with a shrouded ejector, of course).

It's nowhere near 'close enough' for Indy films, but I've wanted a Harrington & Richardson 999 nine-shot revolver since the '80s. I missed the window though, and they aren't being made anymore. But I did find one, almost-new condition, in the box, with papers. It should be here any day now.
What I liked about it then, and still do now, is that it's a top-break. Sort of a 'mini-Webley'. I imagined it would make a nice 'pack gun' that I could carry on overnight hikes in the desert, in case I happened upon a Mojave Green and it was either him or me. A little bush tucker, eh? Well I no longer live in the desert, I don't have any need to carry a firearm, and I'm likely to shoot snakes with a camera now instead of a gun. But it's still an interesting piece and I'm really looking forward to shooting it.
Gotta love .22s!

Pilot, I fully understand! I own more .22s than any other firearm...and enjoy shooting them more than any others! I'd love to find one of those 999's! My Dad had one when I was little, and I remember watching him and my Mom plinking with it.

I've just had a look, and I found two. One is a 1 0f 999 Commemorative, in the case, cylinder never turned. It'll set you back a grand. The other is at another auction site. Excellent condition, in the box, with papers. There are a couple of questions about it, so there's interest. Current high bid is $175.
PM/email me and I'll send you the URLs if you want to take a look.
