LL Bean Pants, Classic Fit Question answered.

By now, a good number of us are aware that LL Bean's Dress Chinos make great close-enough Indy pants, but most (if not all) of us who have bought them have stuck to the "Natural Fit" versions, and the last time these pants were talked about, we all wondered if the "Classic Fit" would be too trim of a cut. Well, rest easy, folks. I tried a pair, and there is very little difference. Basically, if you don't specifically need a lot of extra room in the upper leg or the seat, the "Classic Fit" has plenty of room, and seems to eliminate some of the pouchy look in the front of the pants. I wish I could get pictures good enough to really show the difference, but I'm a one-man operation. The look is too similar to tell with the basic photos I can manage.
So, I thought there'd people who would want to know, classic fit will look just as good (if not better) than the Natural fit.

They're both great! I am wearing my natural fit today, but I fit into the classic fit just fine. A few people here said the natural fit look a little more SA, but they're both fantastic close enoughs and really well made.

Very comfortable to wear!

Now, if they would just bring back their screen accurate taupe color, they would sell a ton of 'em.

I used to get Taupe, and now I'm hearing the most SA one available is Stone. So I went and looked for myself, and to me Dark Khaki seems the most SA. I don't know. Been out of the loop for a while.

Oh, no, not Stone! The best shirt color from Bean or Cabelas is Stone. The best pants color Bean carries is Dark Khaki. They do have a new style of wool pants in Taupe, though. They don't look as close in styling, but it's taupe. Maybe it's stage one in bringing back the color! 8)

Bean does have a microfiber pant in taupe with pleats and flap pockets - it's about 20 bucks more than the dress chinos...

Ah, haha. Thank God for COW, and thanks Chewie. :) I'm not buying any gear for a while yet, so maybe they'll bring Taupe back by then.

EDIT: Looked at those micro-fiber pants in taupe. Good color! The older taupe chinos I have are so faded it's hard to remember the original color.

Does the Taupe go in and out of style, or has it just disappeared from the chinos altogether? When was the last time it was an option?

Does anyone have a picture showing the difference between the Taupe and Dark Kahki?

I have a pair of "coffee" colored trousers that are too dark, and the Taupe website pics look pretty dark too.

I don't know for sure, but it has been about three years since they offered the chinos in taupe. It is the color we are all looking for.

I don't have a picture (should soon, though), but don't go by the website photo. Bean's web pics tend to look darker and more muted than the real colors of their stuff.

now if someone could come up with a way to get the permanent creases out, all my LL-Bean questions will be answered.

Good call. When I originally bought my Chinos, I never even thought about the creases, but it would probably bother me a little now.

Question... has anyone written LL Bean and explained our need for trousers in taupe?

Hey Kaplan... the best way I've found to remove about 90% of the crease is to turnn the pants inside out, iron the creases, wash them, and repeat the ironing process. I've had great luck that way.
