I've done the requisite searching through posts before submitting this, but has anyone found an alden-like shoe (not boot) or at least a classic looking period shoe?

So many answers... your best buy will no doubt be eBay. You can find great vintage style shoes there and sometimes even deadstock for cheap.

If you want custom shoes, drop me a line, I can make anything you want even a shoe version of the Indy boot...

Kind regards,
Magnoli

Thanks, I wasn't looking for a vintage piece, rather, a currently produced shoe.

take a look at Alden's website
www.aldenshoes.com
look at dress shoes, they have plenty of very classic styles. Possibly something like this http://www.aldenshoes.com/DrawOneShoe.asp?CategoryID=24

I can also highly recommend www.allenedmonds.com dress shoes

Sketchers makes the ones I wear. They have a boot and a shoe version. The shoes are called "Ripsaw" and have a great look, in my opinion.

An oxford version of the engineer boot would be cool. You know, with the durable sole and all.

I posted a similar question a couple of years ago in this post:

I bought a pair of the J. Crew Duxbury rugged shoes Hemingway Jones recommended and they've been both great shoes and very Indyesque. Sadly the shoes are sold out on the J.Crew website, but you might find some at a store.

Picked these up at Nordstrom, I think. Can't find them online anywhere, but a it's the finest dress shoe I've ever worn.
