hey, that's me! i'm not a rich guy at all, but have no sense whatsoever

our local hobbyshop use to have these blowback replicas back in the 80's before canada came down with their ruling on 'replica weapons'. the nice ones were only $60 or $80 canadian (that's about $200 or $300 usd....oh!!! took a shot at my brothers down south ).

anyways, at the time, before i even knew anything about what sidearm indy carried.....i picked up a nice browning hi power blowback model gun. i should dig it up at the folks' house and add it to my collection.

When it comes to paying $300 for a glorified capgun, I'll stick to buying my live fire Ruger and Smith and Wesson revolvers for the same amount of money, thank you, my Canadian brother!

Pricey? - Yes. However, with me living in Germany, this is the closest I'll most probably EVER get I know this is rather a K-frame then the bespoken N-frame. I also know that, for someone who is truly obsessed about details, this will never be more than a "close enough" (and I'm not a big fan of "close enough"). However, since watching ToD we ALL know that an empty holster just plain *****!!! - And even though I don't have a holster for myself (yet), I'm sure that THIS is currently the last thing to worry about

I was just checking the web site where you bought yours Marc and I found this Magnum 44

A question for you Michaelson: Isn't the 44 closer to the Smith & Wesson Hand Ejector than the 38? I'm thinking size and feel? I know the barrel and grips way off but I could make this puppy look like an Indy S&W

Actually, with today's USD exchange rate, that's not too hefty a pricetag.

Also, people in the US tend to forget that obtaining handguns in for instance Europe is a) not really necessary/useful from a protective point of view, and b) behind thick walls of red tape. I'm in Sweden, and despite that could get a handgun permit relatively easy. I already have hunting licenses, which are really easy to get due to a traditional/cultural view on hunting. I believe it's more or less impossible to obtain a permit in Continental Europe.
And given the recent tragic events in Finland, I doubt it'll get easier to get permits in around here.

Ehh Michaelson, can you help me with my question? You know the one in the third post from this.

Yeah, the politicians are already suggesting keeping all firearms at the shooting ranges, which is a ridiculous idea.

Well of course the frame is the right size, but you've got a heavy barrel and the top strap has an adjustable sight.
99% percent of the population wouldn't know the difference between a N frame HE and a K frame M & P if you slap them upside their head with one. The 38 has the more vintage look over the 44 Mag.

Gotta disagree with this, there's like a pound more steel in the N-frame. That's gotta hurt more.

Ok, so if I knew "someone" who could shorten the barrel, remove the adjustable sight, exchange the grips, strip the entire thing apart, file the frame where necesarry, make it look like it was "blued" and built it together again, the Magnum would actually be the route to go right? - I know, for you guys in the US, this is probably the worst waste of time on a bloody replia EVER, but it would actually have THE look and it would actually make BANG (except for anything else then smoke ever leaving the barrel).

Yep,

Cut the barrel, fashion a front sight, remove the rear, fix the grips and you'd be more-closer-er.

Looking closer, maybe shave off the rib to more closely match the bbl profile and trim part of the ejector housing. Oh, and add a lanyard loop.

How easy that will be depends on a careful hand and good tools.
