Airsoft revolvers

Hey, I'm in the early planning stages for an Indy film and I need to get a gun. I want to go with airsoft, preferably metal with those little fake shells loaded in the working cylinder. I don't need one of the actual Indy revolvers, just an airsoft that looks like an older revolver, a breach-loader if possible, that Indy could have used. Since the gun changes throughout the trilogy (and will probably be different in the new film) I just want a period-accurate revolver. Possibly even something from the '20s, as I may be playing a slightly younger Indy in my film. I've searched around every now and then and all I ever find are those airsoft magnums. Can anybody help me out?

I just could mention this, but it´s a german webside

You search for an softair revolver, if it could also be a half automatic M32

Don´t know at the moment were to get more

I definitely want to stick with the revolver. And I was thinking of somethign that would not only fit in the holster, but also preferably cost less than $50.

If you want something that goes BANG in a fan film, maybe you could find an old school runners starter pistol. Just a thought. They used to look like revolvers back in the day.

Where would I go about acquiring one of those? I always thought those were real guns.

Y'gotta be willing to beat up a gym teacher for one.

Even if she's bigger than you.

Sometimes they use starter's pistols for training police dogs and hunting dogs too. That's almost a lead.

Just so you know, most starter pistols are short little stubby things that probably would only work from a distance...trust me I have one

If you use a google image search, you can see they're not all snubbies and not all revolvers. I have a 'starter pistol' that looks exactly like a 1911 Colt .45, but fires 8mm blanks.

Well if I wanted a blank gun I could acquire one fairly easily, but it would be too expensive. Airsoft seems like a good way to go because the guns are usually under $50. I found one on ShortyUSA, the FBI issue revolver in the gas section. The handle is too modern looking, but so far it's the best thing I could find. There's a huge gap in fake guns between the old west and the magnum. All the old west guns are toys and the magnums are toys and airsoft. Nothing in between it seems.

Well, you can take the little black part off of the FBI revolver and it looks pretty close. Also, though I recommend Shorty USA for customer service, you can find that particular gun for cheaper on realistictoyguns.com or evike.com.

Just to make sure.

On this gun, the contoured black grip comes off? If so, that's the perfect gun for me, except it's not a breach loader, but given my choices I'll have to accept that.

Awesome. Do you have one yourself? If so, I'd really appreciate it if you could take a pic of it without that piece on.

Those look pretty cool, but they are quite short. I'll keep them in mind for other movie ideas though.

They would make a better .38 than a .45. but the one is only $30.00

I had one, but broke it so it is unavailable for pictures, however if you do a forum search you should be able to find one fairly easily.

Risu,Here's a pic of the FBI 38 without the extra grip piece and the orange barrel tip painted over with black. [-X Simple to remove, just take off the side grips with the center screws.I also sprayed both grips with clear flat lacquer. They looked too shiny right out of the box.

Here's another pic after I did a light weathering treatment on the frame.

The grips are removable? Might be able to replace them with something a little more accurate...

Yeah, I think that's a possiblity. Real revolver grips would obviously look great, but I doubt an exact fit without some modifications.A custom made grip set perhaps? Interesting.

Risu - I did a brief tutorial on modifying an airsoft pistol, it can be found here:

Maybe this will help.

Very nice custom work CQ. I really like the lanyard. What did you use for that?
